About Richard1793
I'm 69, married, and have been a nudist off and on since 1971, For the last 17 years I've been a regular at Haulver Beach, an officilly recognized nude beach near Miami, Fla. We live in the city of Miami Beach. My wife's not as into it as she once was, but she does come to Haulover with me occasionally. I'm into history and historic ephemera, most kinds of music, rare coins, rocks/minerals and travel. I'm semi-retired and have been writing a lot of fiction lately including 2 novels. Socially and politically, I like to think of myself as a progressive libertarian. We have 3 grown daughters and 5 grandkids. I drink but only moderately. I enjoy making new nudist friends and meeting people at Haulover. For the record, I am nolt gay or bi, although I am fine with whatever anyone else is or isn't. We're reform Jewish. Pretty much anyone who enjoys reasonably intelligent conversation and is OK with social nudity or curious about it.
My Interests
Pretty much covered in the "about me" section. I'm also a dog lover and still mourning the loss of my and my family's Rotties. I enjoy travel and have been to most of the states and provinces and 40-odd countries. I'm into chasing total solar eclipses and have seen 14 of them since 1969,
Movies
Wow, so many. I'm not into Hollywood-type blockbusters. I gravitate more to indy and foreign films, but I'm not a snob about it. My favorite movie of 2010, "My Dog Tulip," only played in a few theaters for a few weeks - we were able to see it in NY.
Music
My favorites are classical and folk, but I like some of almost everything except heavy metal and the whiny type of country. My ipod pretty much covers the musical spectrum.
My Heroes
We are Obama fans, altho we wish he had more "cojones." I don't have many well known heroes. Mostly they are the kinds of people you read about in the back pages of local newspaper sections or who show up in CNN's "Heroes" or at the tail end of some network newscasts. There was a woman whose name I don't recall who had been raped years ago. She'd "identified" her "rapist" during his trial, he was convicted, and he was later proved totally innocent by DNA. She publicly apoloized for her tragic mistake, and he forgave her. When a man in Texas was convicted and executed because of dubious eyewitness testimony, she went public, describing how wrong eyewitness identification can be. She's high on my list of heroes. So are people who rescue unwanted and abused animals - and people.
