Gunnison is there; Friends is not?

While Gunnison Beach is still there, I understand that the club Friends of Gunnison Beach (the FoGs) is gone. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think they broke up while Sandy Hook (the park that Gunnison is in) was closed for a couple of years after Hurricane Sandy.
The FoGs used to spearhead the January Polar Bare Plunges there. There was an effort to continue the plunges after them. But the last one I heard about (and drove up for, from Washington DC) fell through, because at the appointed time, the park had not yet gotten around to shoveling a foot or two of snow.
