No one tells you about the 693 steps down to the beach.

Beautiful on the beach (once you have recovered)

I know right? That walk is a killer. First time I went there was with my room mate and our dogs. Wasn't an active nudist at the time and didn't know it was a nude beach. Just went to see the beach and let our dogs run around. Walked all the way down (before they had made real steps) And then we noticed the nudists. Hadn't been there more than 10 minutes and a life guard I think it was told us no dogs allowed and that we had to leave the beach.

The next time I went was surfing with a buddy and still not a nudists although if he wasn't there I probably would have enjoyed some naked time.

I never mind the walk down to the beach. Its the walk back up. I once went there and enjoyed my time down there getting some sun and playing in the water. I had to leave to meet a friend for some beers and made that walk back up. It was a warm day so I was sweating so bad that I had to towel off all the sweat and sit in the car for 30 min with the AC on to cool myself down.

The last time I went though it was cooler and I didnt sweat as bad. I love going to this beach.

You are right. The walk back up is a killer. If i remember correctly the steps are pretty tall so it's like doing lunges coming back up. My quads were shot after that. And not fun carrying a surfboard and wetsuit either. If I ever get back over there I will surely go though. Isn't there another way where you can park farther south and walk back to it?

The trek down and especially back up are what is keeping us from going anymore. My wife dislikes it so much that she really doesn't have a good time on the beach. By the time she's over the trek down, she begins dreading the trek back up. It's not worth it if she's not having a good time. I may trek down there on my own some time this coming summer. Hoping that the situation at San Onofre improves and we can return there some day.

There are two easier routes to the north and to the south but the walk to the nude section of the beach is much longer, over a mile! From the south, it's equally as far to the nude section and you navigate over some rocks and tide pools. Going that direction you need to be mindful of high tide times which can make that route quite a bit more tricky.

I would love to go with some people. It would make the visit much nicer.

It's always better with friends. That's one of the reasons I go to the resort instead of the beach. A lot more interaction there.

;DDDD, Yep, shore did!

Sounds good! I may try San O by myself or maybe my wife will tag along but keep a bathing suit on. She's scared to death of getting that kind of ticket!

I have seen the rangers go to the fence and stay there for a few minutes but they cant do anything if you are south of the fence. I have yet to see any MP but I heard once not too long ago that they asked everyone on the beach to go back north.

I can meet you there Andy sometime and just chill. We have already spoken and I will not ask about your wife. I just like to chill, tan, and chat. I have talked to a couple of guys down there.
