2022 South Padre
Return to DiscussionsIve received a few messages asking for clarification on how to get to the nude beach at South Padre. Ill post here rather than answer individually. First, on almost all days you will need a vehicle that can make it through soft sand. There are a few times that Ive noticed the sand is packed enough for a regular car to drive up the beach for 10 miles, but thats far from a guarantee.
From the community of Port Isabel, take the causeway across to SPI. Take a left on south padre boulevard, and drive north all the way out of town. Youll notice beach access points on your right as you drive. Take beach access #6!!! You will now be on sand the rest of your drive. Pay your fee if the gate is staffed, and take a left to drive north on the beach. The crowd is often heavy as you enter the beach. Watch out for little kids who will run across your path without looking.
Drive for several miles (mile markers are on the left). The crowd thins out to the point that there are wide spaces in between parked cars.
Part 2.
Where the crowd is thin, but generally at least 10miles up, is where you should take it off and enjoy the day. Occasionally there are voyeurs who drive by slow and close, but theyre often just trying to verify if youre nude so theyll do it too. Rarely there are spontaneous occurrences of multiple cars and tents close to each other.
Good advice is to be respectful of others boundaries, and dont flaunt yourself when people drive by. In my experience, the Jeep Wrangler drivers are much more likely to be there for the nude beach than others. Its a Jeep thing I guess.
