Has anyone been to A Bay recently?
Return to DiscussionsHas anyone been to A Bay recently? Are they still having police issues? Planning on heading there on Friday 13 Jan.
Was there 1 whole afternoon in May last year.
I didn't encounter problems; didn't know they were having "police issues".
Just curious, is it still a legal nude beach? Thanks.
Note: Update - A Bay is but an Unofficial nude beach (ie. not legal)
As of JUNE 2023... best to avoid A Bay for a while again.
Police have raided a couple of times the past couple of months.
This is due to GNA endeavouring to legalise A Bay, as QLD first legal nude beach.
Local cops have been told to raid beach, in hopes of bad press... so they can turn us down, yet again
My dawn visits while on holidays for the previous week or so (late November 2023) did not reveal any patrols but on a number of days there were tracks from a quadracycle that entered from the 'middle' access track and looped around at the southern end and occasionally to the north.
I only saw a few others shed their gear early in the morning, usually for a quick dip before dressing and continuing on. One guy also stayed long enough for a few exercises before dressing. Otherwise, surfers, walkers and runners started appearing sooner or later after me so I adjusted my activities accordingly between walking, playing in the surf and sitting on the beach. Still got some nice nude time, approaching three hours on some days, before returning to the world of the textiles. While mostly walking out alone (and first of the day, if the encountered cobwebs are anything to go by), the trail to Park Road was quite busy by the time I returned.
