Connectivity / Internet at Magic Circle?
Return to DiscussionsSo my partner and I are full-time RVers crisscrossing the desert this winter. We'll be staying at places from San Diego, De Anza, Quartzsite to Tucson & a little beyond... During our time near Quartzsite we'd love to stay in the Magic Circle so we can run around without clothes whenever we desire...
How is Internet/data in the La Posa South LTVA & specifically in the Magic Circle? We normally use Verizon data & also Google Fi which switches between T-Mobile, Sprint and U.S. Cellular.
Any info greatly appreciated.
We are probably a bit late to the party so to speak on this one but if you are full timing we would encourage you to look at Wilson Wireless/weboost booster. We've had these for about 15 years now and they change the camping game. We can get decent service in areas where there was zero before. Part of that is getting the antenna up high enough and part is the booster. If you like remote camping and want service we would advise mounting the antenna as high as possible with a way to remove it for travel. We have a 10' extension that can be mounted on the ladder for extra range.
Update: Im currently camped at the Magic Circle (January 2023). Cell service ranges from 2-3 bars to zero (Verizon) depending on traffic. Available bandwidth varies widely minute to minute. Both of these are the result of the large (huge) number of people camping in the Quartzite area and the cell/internet traffic they generate. Not only is the traffic from the La Posa LTVA but from the dispersed campers in adjacent areas. Quartzite itself is quite a circus in January/February, but fortunately the Magic Circle is rather peaceful in comparison. The lookie loos have been reduced by posting the tiniest of signs at the entrance.
