I encourage you to make your group open to others beyond straight brothers. I for one have learned a lot from those outside of the norms of my gender, orientation, abilities and class. Diversity is a gift and like-minded people are an echo chamber.
In regards to my own interest, I've been shamed and abused enough by churches to stay shy of them without disregarding my faith of origin. I differentiate between Jesus as a basis for faith and Paul for a foundation of church building. To be honest I don't consider Paul's letters to be the word of God, and don't want to study them.
