Last Week...............
ThursdayWent out just to catch the bait for Friday fishing of Grouper and Snapper. Bait is very plentiful at this time. Caught Pin Fish, Thread Fin and Pilchards with bait rigs and thru the net for Pilchards which were smaller than the ones caught on the rigs. Bait Balls, Schools of Bait everywhere on the Gulf.
FridayFished Grouper and Snapper and filled the box with four limits of Red Grouper (8 Fish) between 23 and 25 inches and topped off the cooler with 27 nice Lane Snapper all 12 to 13 inches.
SaturdayShark and Tarpon Fishing. Jumped two Tarpon and both thru the circle hooks when they jumped partly due to angler error. Good thing for me I as not the angler. Was the persons first time with a Tarpon and they were so excited just to see the jumps which were both within 20 yards of the boat. Sharks are plentiful and willing to bite on almost everything. Try and land them as quick as possible and this warm water kicks their as while they are fighting. That being said we released six in very good shape. Two Bulls, Four Spinners.
SundayNothing but snapper and lots of them. Both Lane and Mangrove Snapper. Put four limits of mixed snapper in the cooler and everyone ate fresh fish again. Doesn't get any better than that.
Four great days of Fishing. Back on the water this Friday for Grouper and Snapper again.
