Do you keep yourself shaved when you visit the doctor?
Return to DiscussionsI have no issue being shaved in front of other nudists because I fit right in. But with doctors, I'm a little self conscious, so I always grow my pubic hair back when I'm getting my annual checkup to the doctor. I always hate that because that means I have to go through 2-3 of hair growth, which I hate.
I wish I could just stay shaved when going to the doctor but I'm afraid he might react and wonder why I don't have pubic hair.
So what do you all do? Do you keep yourself shaved and let your doctor see it? If so, do they ever react or ask questions?
Life is too short. If you enjoy being shaved, stay that way. Do not change for a doctors visit. I love being shaved and go that way to the doctor when I go. For all we know our doctor is shaved as well.
I tend to go just the way I am and even try to time my waxing appointments so that when I have my dermatology visits I am freshly waxed. Since going smooth I have had 2 dermatologists, both younger women. One never batted an eye when she noticed my lack of hair. The other did sort of a double take but didn't say anything. I imagine that she wasn't used to seeing a man in his 70's with smooth pubes.
I don't have any issues going to Dr. smooth. Only comment I've every gotten was from surgeon I went to for hernia repair. When he told me to remove my clothing for the initial exam, he said, "Good, you already shave. Make sure you keep it smooth for the operation." I did get comments from my GP at annual physical when he saw my tattooed and pierced penis. He asked if I had any soreness or irritation, but no comment on being hairless.
Thanks. What made me worry is that he might wonder if I haven't reached puberty or something. But I guess I shouldn't care. Worse comes to worse, I'll just explain to him that I manscape.
The reason I bring this up is because since shaving has been quite a hassle for me (due to hair growing back really quickly), I was thinking of taking my hair removal to the next step and getting it waxed. And if I do that, hair might not grow back in time for a doctor's appointment. But I shouldn't let that stop me. I'll go for it. I'm so scared of the pain, but definitely worth a try. If I like the long term smoothness from waxing, I may eventually decide to have it permanently lasered off. I've been shaving for too long and never had a desire to grow a full bush again, so it's time that I look into getting my pubes removed completely and hopefully, permanently one day.
We are always smooth so it makes sense that we'd be smooth when we visit the Dr's for appointments. If we've missed a grooming session by a couple of days and are stubbled, we'll shave the night before we visit either of our doctors; GP or Dermatologist. GP never batted an eye with either of us and our dermatologist, after a few years, asked us if we'd like to have laser hair removal, she'd do it for us. Neither of these women ever, EVER said, you shouldn't shave or we need to keep our pubic hair. A few years ago, our GP gave my wife a few tips and recommendations for a smoother pubic area. One was waxing but my wife won't do it. ;DD
I stay shaved all the time. Actually, it was my dermatologist that suggested shaving might be a good idea. I have been a nudist most of my life and years ago we rarely used sun block. Maybe something like an SPF 10 to 15 to help keep the skin moist and even the tan. But I had some issues from that with a few small skin cancer spots. One time the sample came back as a melanoma. They removed it and thankfully it didn't spread. After that they taught me how to self examine the skin. The suggestion for hair removal was simply that I could keep an eye on things easier and spot any suspicious changes. I go every six months for a fully nude full body exam, usually performed by a doctor and a young assistant or two. Our GP also sees us for our annual physical and has never said anything other than she thinks the dermatologist made a good suggestion as it might help keep me healthy.
Also, if you have discovered a shaving technique that makes it look like there was never hair there in the first place, from up close in the harsh lighting of the doctor's office, I'd love to know your secret. Within hours of shaving, I can at least already see (and start to feel!) stubble on my skin, especially from up close... maybe I'm just a hairy beast lol
Same problem here, but not as bad as yours. If I let it grow for about a week and then shave, the shave is close enough that it stays smooth for two days. But if I shave too often, it's stubbly the next day and also gets irritated. That's why I can only shave once every 5-7 days, but that means I can only enjoy being smooth 1-2 days per week, which sucks. That's why I'm going to try to have it waxed. But in order to do so, I have to wait for it to grow back, which is also a pain. So both are hassles in their own way. That's why if I enjoy the long term smoothness from waxing, I may just go for it and get it all lasered off.
