YMCA Men's Saunas and Steam Rooms
Return to DiscussionsYears ago I had only seen guys naked at the nude beach or in the locker room. Then I joined a different Y and this one had a sauna. Wanted to try my first time sauna but was afraid of...you guessed it...an erection. Finally gave it my first try and was amazed how great it felt and how comfortable I was with other nude men in close quarters. Expanded my nudist opportunities and helped me get over fears. Oddly, I never had an erection, but a few other guys did, and it was no problem at all. Thankful for this great Y opportunity.
Luckily there are still a handful of YMCAs where nudity is not verboten. NYC has a few with saunas and steamrooms where nudity is allowed, and even where boys and men shower together. Last I checked the city had not crumbled as a result. There's nothing quite like striking up a conversation with a dude whom you've just met, both of you sitting nude in a sauna or steamroom.
The Y where I am (Torrance, CA), going nude in the men's area; steam room, sauna, shower and locker is routine and usual. I'm surprised other Ys are not permitting nudity in the men's only area or the women's only area. I have been nude with lots of guys in the sauna (once in the steam room, which too hot for me), and the nudity is routine.
As far as erections are concerned, I have seen them a few times, or guys semi-erect in the sauna. On one occasion, about 45 minutes before they closed on Sunday evening, I was in the sauna; there were three guys in the sauna with me; I was nude, semi-erect, one guy kept his towel on, the other two guys were nude, one was completely erect, the other semi-erect. There was some very light occasional stroking, nothing intense at all, no outright masturbation, just a hand down there for an occasional stroke or tugging. No one paid much attention, never saw anyone cum, and there was no touching any other guy.
When I traveled extensively for business, the Y was my go-to for exercise and then relaxation in the sauna and steam room. My experience was very much like yours. Guys always naked in both of those two amenities; erections were common enough and nobody gave them a second thought.
