I went to check out Rooster Rock yesterday and was pleased to be able to easily get to the river; just a little mud in spots on the trail. Huge change from a month ago when there was no way to get to the river. There's still a large expanse of water between the "main beach" and Sand Island but I did see one woman make the long trip across successfully. I did not notice her until she was almost to the island so I missed seeing how deep the water became for her. As usual, there is a string of markers in the water showing at least part of the best path to the island. Since I did not have a ton of time, I did not make the crossing myself but I'm sure it will only be better the next time I visit. Finally, it looks like Rooster Rock will be great for the rest of the season.
