People Against Circumcision
Uncircumcised intact and naked is the way we came to this earth. And why change it, as we're naturists. At least keep your next generation away from the blade. Cheers
Next Generation: Cut or Intact
Return to DiscussionsFor those who come up with scientific reasons for circumcision.
How to keep your penis hygienic?
- A simple water wash (My own experience) or Cut the foreskin altogether
According to recent studies 81% of 'cut' men and their partners wish their parents had left them intact.
If you can show your kids how to keep their penis clean; why bother cutting them (for whatever religious/ cultural reasons it may be.)
It is refreshing to know that many progressive Jewish and Muslim parents have realized this and are leaving the decision to their kids when they grow up.
Please discuss
Cheers
OK. There are some positives here but also some vestigial shame based ideas about foreskin. Penises like vaginas in healthy folks are not dirty. They don't require cleaning. They are not unhygienic. Our bodies are evolved over millions of years of selection to be self maintaining and regulating. Both penises and vaginas have natural smells that are not a sign of filth but of their normal state. The cultural obssession with men's foreskin and the dire need to make sure it's not unhygienic is a byproduct of circumcision mythology and general puritan ideas about sex. Like any other part of the body water is fine for cleaning. Soap should never go in that tissue. Or your anus. Or your vagina. It dries removes essential oils your body makes to keep these places healthy allows bacteria not local to those areas in and creates microtears. If a penis is strangulated then there are special requirements that a physician will outline. If the skin retracts pull fully back and wash in warm water if you must. Obviously if sexual intercourse happens you may need a little soap. Or if you paint it or get greasy lube on it. Even then gentle use of a cloth will remove most of it.
For those who like to really deep clean I'm not saying stop. It's your body and that's cool. But for a blanket discussion of the reasons men should be intact, focusing on the idea that a penis is naturally unhygenic isn't helpful. I understand that many men have shame or fear about their penises being filthy. Mom and a female or gay male partner had a lot to do with that usually. It's a culturally propagated idea that's not based in any science. But it affects so many men very negatively. I've seen and spoken with enough uncut guys to know there is a overall perception they are naturally dirty or needing lots of cleaning and that when a partner declares they are dirty or stink it really upsets and shames.
