Answering the door naked?
Return to DiscussionsI have a sign posted nudists live here, at the front door. For DoorDash and UberEats I text the driver and let them know Im a nudist and ask if they would like me to dress for delivery. Some say, yes, please, if you dont mind. Some say, no worries. One said, me too! Can I hang out? And we did. Pest control company has it on file and completely cool and professional. Its usually a big non-reaction and its very affirming.
that is true in a way, today i had someone ring the door bell looking for an ex neighbor, i told him hold on a bit cause i was fully naked so i went to grab my robe and then i opened the door with robe on (opened a bit) and he kept looking down at my dick and he then asked to come in and well we gave each other head. but they do let you know if maybe they like what they see
"Exhibitionism is characterized by intense, sexually arousing fantasies, urges or behaviors involving exposure of the individual's genitals to an unsuspecting stranger. The individual with this problem, sometimes called a "flasher," feels a need to surprise, shock or impress his victims. The condition usually is limited to the exposure, with no other harmful advances made, although "indecent exposure" is illegal. Actual sexual contact with the victim is rare. However, the person may masturbate while exposing himself or while fantasizing about exposing himself."

Key word here, sexually arousing. Answering the door naked, consent or not, is NOT the same thing as being an exhibitionist. I would guess most of us here wouldn't get a sexual thrill out of answering the door naked, which means it's not exhibitionist behavior, despite the surface similarities. And most laws on indecent exposure or public lewdness include language that REQUIRES sexual intent for it to be a crime.
So morally, maybe it's still not the greatest thing in the world to answer the door naked for strangers who aren't expecting it. But legally and by medical definition, it's not exhibitionism. Just want to make that point because a lot of people are conflating the two.
As for me, yeah I answer the door naked for Uber eats, but I hide behind the door. It's a 2 second interaction and the 10 seconds it takes to put a robe on just doesn't seem worth it.
As nice as it would be to live in a world where people should be able to do this, if you're in the United States you don't. Answering the door naked without the other person's advanced consent can get you arrested in many jurisdictions. This is exactly what can give nudism a bad name. Please let's not be stupid.
It's one thing if I am accidentally seen naked. I was working on my house one very hot afternoon about 15 years ago, naked except for work boots and a tool belt, so pretty compromising for an unsuspecting visitor, when my postman stuck his head in an open window. He was surprised and embarrased, I am guessing more for me than for his own discomfort. I apologized and said it was so hot and I wasn't expecting anyone so I stayed naked. He was a little red faced but he shrugged it off, complimented the job I was doing on my renovation and that was that. But it's another thing if I deliberately get naked or open the door for an unsuspecting visitor. I keep shorts in or sweats near the door and pull them on to answer.
Emjoying nudity does not mean we must impose it on others.
We live in a mostly textile society. If a stranger comes to your door and you are naked, that is not so nice.Candidlly, if it is a girl scout selling cookies, a boy selling something, any adult, and you answer the door naked, that is imposing yourself, rude, and could be seen as predatory.
Isn't a stranger coming to the door trying to sell something, them imposing themselves into your life/home? It would only be predatory if you tried to get the person (child) into your home for nefarious reasons.
