Nudists Working To Be Healthier
This is a place for anyone who would wants to be healthier today than they were yesterday. It's my hope that we can inspire each other to do better every day. It's a proven fact that folks who eat less "junk" and exercise live longer than those who don't. I want to live a long time so I can be naked more! ;)
Well, here I go again....
Return to DiscussionsI weighed 273 lbs on Sunday. So, on Monday I quit eating junk and got my butt up at 5:15 a.m. to do a mile on the treadmill using the HIIT method. Monday evening I did another mile at a moderate speed. I drink a lot of water and I've eaten clean and repeated the above exercise every day this week. When I got up this morning (naked, of course!) I weighed 266 lbs. I am stoked!
I know that a large part of that is water weight but it's no matter - last time I did this I gained weight and quit again. LOL! I seem more focused than I have been in years. I feel a lot better already. I'm snoring less and my back actually hurts less which is really odd.
Today, I'm trying to decided whether to do one more week of just cardio or go ahead and add the strength training. Anyway, anyone else who has or wants to start a program?
Final numbers for the week are in. 265.5 lbs!! Got a long, long way to go but seeing results from efforts makes it a bit easier! Today is recovery day. Will be back at it hard tomorrow.
Update 1/11/11: Completed two more days. Morning and evening cardio plus upper body workout on Monday and Morning and Evening cardio today. Eating clean except during game last night.
Update 1/12/11: Completed another day. Morning and evening cardio (morning was HIIT) and lower body workout. Eating clean. Woo hoo!
Update 1/13/11: Oddly, my weight went up a couple of pounds and is slow to come back down. However, my Body Fat (BF)% is still dropping. Adding strength training builds muscle so I believe that the fat I've lost is about equal to the muscle I've gained. Morning and Evening cardio completed and eating has been clean.
Update 1/16/2011: Day 14: I haven't missed a single workout and have eaten very well (esp. for me). One day each week is "free day". So I had two of those. I also allowed myself to enjoy one evening (BCS National Championship game). I need to drink more water, I'm not getting as much as I should but still doing well. On to the final numbers. I've lost 11lbs of fat and gained 1 lb lean muscle. My BP first thing in the morning (at rest) was 116/68 with a pulse of 64 today.
Thanks Maleko! I'm enjoying the ride. I feel MUCH better already, my clothes fit better and I definitely have more energy. I have a lot of trouble with my low back but since I started this workout routine, my back has improved a great deal. If it continues to improve, I intend to start "Power 90" either after week 4 or week 6. I want to do as much as I can to tighten the skin as I lose weight and something like Power 90 gives a better "full body" workout than traditional weights and treadmill.
Thanks again and I'll keep posting results... maybe one posted edited for each week. Hopefully someone will be inspired.
1/18/2011 (Tuesday) - Still going. Haven't changed a thing. I am considering starting Power 90 in a week or two. I've done weights so much it's almost too boring.
Update 1/20/2011 - Still going strong! Just finished my second cardio for the day and about to eat dinner. Hoping I hold a 3 lb per week average loss. if I can keep near that mark, I can be below 240 lbs by April!! I lost about 7lb the first week and 3 last week. The second week is always toughest on The Biggest Loser show so if that holds true I should be good. I also keep a pair of pants that are a little more than one size down hanging where I can see them every morning, every night and every time I have to go into the bathroom... I'll be in those in a few weeks at current pace. That's fine, I'll buy another pair and reset the goal.
Update 1/22/2011 - One workout left for the week and I've completed 3 weeks without missing a workout. I did have to modify last night because I didn't have time to do ALL I needed to do and make the work outing... It doesn't appear I'll have any scale loss this week, we'll see in the morning.
Final Update Wk 3 1/23/2011: I was wrong. I actually made some improvement this week though it wasn't what I was hoping for. Last week I said I was down 11 lbs. After checking the numbers, I was off by a pound. So I had lost 10 lbs - my apologies. This week showed a loss of 2 more pounds. Now that's good, but my goal was three. Yes, I'm pushing myself and setting high goals. :)
So, I've lost 12 lbs in 3 weeks. Need to push a bit harder this next week and see if I can get below 260 lbs! My goal is to lose 4 lbs this week for a final weight of 258 lbs.
Don't get discouraged with less than 2 lb per week. I've been there, lost 70 lbs over a couple of years mostly working out and fixing diet habits. You'll definitely have highs and lows on losing, and some of the lows will be weeks where you worked the hardest on both diet and workout. You'll have plateaus that will eventually pass. Believe it or not, sometimes one binge meal can jump start you on the plateau. Just don't give up. Oh,....nearly forgot. One thing that plagues me, when I do any weights or things of that nature...you'll add some muscle mass that add weight...even though you feel thinner. It'll pass! I'm proud for you...just don't give up!
