Has anyone met one on one?
Return to DiscussionsI may be meeting someone tomarrow. I'm a little apprehensive becuase she has a very minamal profile, but we've exchanged a few short emails and she keeps trying to get me on hangout which I don't do. I told her she needed to post some photos and get certified. She said she was having difficulty with that. So, I said I've had some difficulties with the site too but was able to figure it out. Now I offered to help her get certified. Should I be concerned? I'm trying to make this as innocent of a meeting as I can, but have not exchanged personal contact info yet. I've been delaying but expect to give a phone number and address tonight.
If some asks for WhatsApp or hangouts, I am always alert to then being scammers but what could they actually do by meeting on there? I keep seeing this hangouts this but no idea what it is or how it could be used for scamming.
I have met a few people locally but not as many as I would like. I too joined with the intention of meeting other nudists in real life. I have had more than my share of fakes and scammers, the most recent was someone saying they were helping out COVID suffers and offering financial assistance. They asked if I had a financial app so they could send me money.
Usually, it goes this way, we chat until they say that they need to buy more time on their phone, or need to buy medicine for their Grandmothers, etc.
The worst part is the increasing number of "women" offering sex for money, it is becoming more common. I must be on a number of lists, I get messages from people who have only been here for hours or possibly a day saying how they like my profile or photos. I know that I'm not that popular in reality.
Why is TN becoming so sexually charged, I thought that's why TS was created. Groups that are only concerned with sexual aspects of people are mushrooming like crazy on here. I'm no prude but I have understood the difference between social nudity and sex for a long time, after 50 years as a nudist I really should.
No and comments here are par. They say will meet then you find out that not in town. Next ask for a prepaid Visa card to get there. All the while usually not even getting a photo of the person. I believe it is called 'catfishing'. Yes even I for anyone on here say lets meet in public (nude or not) and then go from there. If won't do that then most likely getting scammed. Just my 2 cents. I have to agree with buttnaked in post 31. It seems that there is an ever increasing amount of porn-looking kind of material coming into TN. While I certainly can't walk on water...unles perhaps when its frozen...I find it quite disheartening that the central theme of nudism being to enjoy the freedom to experience the natural out of doors without the encumbrances of clothing and all of the legalistic acts against nudism. I have noted that in the certification requirements and forbidden practices, it is noted that photos which display genitalia aroused or not without salsa showing a full head will not be allowed, yet there are numerous such photos posted daily and there doesn't seem to be any of them being removed, or the member being banned.
Now that I've vented my spleen on this topic without addressing it, I would like to say that for all those who think WhatsApp and Hangouts are safe places to go to for continuing meeting with some of those members who don't post more than one picture, usually fully clothed, and quite , and often in the 18-29 year range, are being setup for the sucker punch. Regardless of how sweet sounding they may be, their prime purpose is to lure one into a trap wherein they will first gain access to ones email and or phone number and then begin to request financial favors. Older, single men are most often targeted because they are the most emotionally vulnerable.
The bottom line is don't do it.
One on one seems risky. Two on two -- less so. But either way, common sense and instinct can be useful. We met a TN couple at our home, but only following months of communication. In this case, it was like meeting old friends.
When I get friend requests from anyone who is zero feet tall and weighs nothing I decline their request. Most of them have joined in the past 30 minutes and also have no photos. I've actually created a boilerplate response explaining why I will decline their request. It includes requesting them to complete their profile and ad photos. Then I'll give them a week or so to comply. Once in a while the person just hasn't gotten to completing the profile.
I also advise new or prospective friends that friendship includes regular communication, a message sharing something that has just happened or just saying checking in, hope you are well. I regularly go through my friends list and remove all with whom I haven't had communications.
I have met two local TN members and have been visited by both and have visited one at his home a number of times. I would like to meet more locals.
