NUDISM And SPIRITUALITY
Nudism and spirituality (in the modern sense) together bring us closer to Nature. Meditation is like inward prayer, communing with our inner being, our life spirit, making us happy and healthy.
Naturism, Philosophy, Spirituality, and Religion,
Return to Discussions'Naturism' means an affinity with and love of nature. Our way of being close to nature is to be naked whenever sensibly possible. Okay, so naturism is our 'philosophy' (which means love of knowledge). Contemporary 'spirituality' is not about 'religion'. It is something we feel deep inside, which defines us as human beings. We can communicate with our inner spirit more easily when we are enjoying the beauty of nature, especially when we are completely nude in the open air and warm sunshine, by the sea, or in the countryside. The joy you feel comes from inside. Naturism is not a religion; it places no restrictions on your way of life, quite the opposite. It sets you free from mental subjugation, and encourages free thinking.
There is nothing wrong with feeling comforted by religious beliefs, unless they restrict your freedom to think. I have visited magnificent cathedrals and felt 'uplifted' by the splendour and artistry. There are beautiful temples all around the world, but I don't have to be religious to appreciate their man-made beauty. Spirituality comes from inside man.
A short while ago my friend and I were told off for being nude in a nature reserve (the man came up on us so quickly we had no time to cover up). So it appear we are not allowed to be naturist in a nature reserve.
On the other hand I shared a day long nude hike with three other men in a remote part of Nidderdale. This was truly in nature. We met several others during our hike - residents and other hikers. We covered our bits as soon as we saw anyone but they had already seen us and we were otherwise naked. My hiking friend engaged them in conversation:- saying we were naturists on a naturist hike and asking if they minded. Many a friendly conversation followed. Only one man (out of many men and women) objected. A few asked if we weren't cold. One lady gave us some fruit she had just picked and lingered close by as we took a nude group photo.
Thanks for your words Dave. I try to explain to my textile wife that I believe my "addiction" to naturism is of a spiritual dimension of some sort. There is definitely something powerful that happens when you get naked in nature and even better when with a "congregation" of like minded people. I certainly feel more empowered and liberated than when I am clothed.

Thanks Olly. It's a great shame that we can't be naked in 'quiet' parts of the beautiful countryside without being considered lawbreakers. Your other, harmless encounters show that not everybody is uptight about natural nudity. It helped that you were part of a group of hikers.
Let's look forward to the warmer months!
