Return to DiscussionsNot sure what to say in my 20 years in the canoe club was sporadictely sprinkled with some nude fun in many parts of the world. In the early 70s while deployed aboard the USNS Chauvetnet-TAGS29 we were doing a survey of the Ulithi atoll in southern Micronesia and the inhabitants of the island group being of Samoan decent, dressed in traditional dress, sarongs men and women and women were usually topless. Skinny dipping in the ocean was not frowned upon and it was always fun. There were other times that nudity in the open was not offensive, and usually always included skinny dipping.
I/we did not get into organized nudism until after retirement but have been actively in the nude lifestyle for the last 13 + years, always looking for brothers and sisters to enjoy socially nude experiences and friendship. Love to tell sea stories and taking FRIENDLY jabs at the other services, first and foremost though I want to thank all here for their service to the country. Pete
Unfortunately,, my service stayed mostly inland. Army 1987-2008. I did spend some time deployed in Panama and also in Guantanamo Bay. I was stationed in Hawaii and Germany. Germany was my first duty station and it was there that I found that my inclination to be naked was not different but somewhat acceptable. There were nude swims that I could go to and most of the women were topless around any of the pools. Hawaii was a bit later in my career and while I did find some time to be nude there I was really limited in nude opportunities anywhere else during my career. It did not help that I was married to a prudish, very jealous wife at the time. Even she went topless at the pools in Germany though. She was self conscious drawing attention as the only one with her top on. But, that is another story. Thank you for your service. You have found one of the few arguments for joining the Navy.
