Expressing Your Hippieness
Return to DiscussionsWhat is the way you most usually express your hippieness (if that is a word)? I mean I still love the bands from the hippie wave (e.g., Jefferson Airplane), but the time I spend in the forest naked connecting with nature seems most hippie-like (or may be pagan). Also, the time I spend at a laid back, minimally commercial, hot springs with other naked people has a hippie vibe to it. What does it take to be a hippie now days, or once a hippie, always a hippie?
I recognize that each generation makes its own reality; the hippies did that, but we have no monopoly on the phenomenon, so I work to be accepting of young people wherever they are coming from.
I spend time naked in nature.
I consider the impact of my footprint on the planet.
I resist labels: I have qualms about "nudist", for that matter, but it's the name of the site.
I do the organic / natural-fiber / home-cooked thing.
I organize and maintain a bulk-buying club.
I hitchhike, and I pick up hitchhikers.
I haven't cut my hair for fifty years.
Steve - love your lifestyle, and we are part of the way there. We are fortunate to be able to source locally for many things. The challenge is that we have a 60 day growing season, which is limiting. The hair thing is the one thing I can't seem to do. Mine just gets bushy, not long. Too much body, and it get too annoying.
I embrace what being a Hippie means the Music is very important but the Love of Mother Earth is most important from recycling to composting getting involved locally I Love spending time outside in the forrest and beaches and shedding my clothes to be one with the world .
I keep in touch with nature, swimming in sea, lakes and rivers, spending a lot of time in forest, taking sunbaths at beach. Sharing energy with other people, changing massages, body touching and spreading good energy to the world and to the people
