Did nude hiking ruin regular hikes for you?
Return to DiscussionsI really got into this nude hiking thing. But now I feel it was not a good hike unless I did it clothes free. So now I don't want to go to populated hiking places that require clothes anymore. It is not as fulfilling of an experience. Anyone else have that problem?
I totally relate. Do you find the most difficult part of the hike when you have to put your clothes back on, and you delay that until the last possible moment? My selection of hiking trails is largely based on if I can hike it naked or not. I compounded the issue this summer by giving myself a goal for naked hiking miles, but even without that, hiking with clothes on is not something I enjoy as much as I used to.
Like most things we nudists do, it's always better when we are naked. I've/we've done some naked hiking. I've always loved hiking but I never thought my wife enjoyed it as much as she did when we naked hiked. We've done some hiking in clothes and she's said ... "I'd much rather do this without clothes on!" A close nudist friend and I did quite a bit nude hiking in AZ while on vacation with other nudist friends, but did have to slip on shorts more times than we'd thought. Seems lots of people were up and hiking at that time, so we just left the shorts on and hiked with shorts on. It was much better without. The day our wives joined us, it was overcast and cool so we kept the shorts and sweatshirts on. We frequently talk about returning very soon and getting back out there to hike naked again.
Closer to home, we have a club/resort about 2 hrs from home. That's where my wife loves to hike nude. We'll take the motorhome out there next time and spend a few days and get in some good naked hiking. Most of our hikes are only a couple hours long, with stops for water and snacks and ... rest! hahaha
I have only hiked naked a couple times. I've been hiking with textiles many times since. Every time I hike I think about hiking naked and wish I was again. I find that I wear less clothes than I used to. Forget the heavier clothes now, it almost always short inseam running shorts and a sleeveless shirt or tank top which is just enough to protect my shoulders from the backpack straps on longer hikes. Otherwise no shirt at all.. I'll definitely be the least clothed in a group.
Shorts, what's with the shorts? The best cover when hiking naked is a short skirt. it is quick to put on when meeting other hikers and easy to take off. (It also amuses the other hikers as they pass.) I've hiked many times recently and cannot remember when I last did it in clothes.
This last week end I did four hikes with a friend. The first was completely naked - the two car keys challenge. ( Hid a set of keys at the far end of the hike, then locked ourselves out of the car completely naked and carrying nothing. The only option is to do the hike to the hidden keys and then return to the car, compulsory nudity both ways.) The next two were mainly naked , just having to don the skirt occasionally. The last was in a more popular place, so only removing the skirt some of the time.

Yes, I had that problem for a good while after I discovered how nice nude hiking is. I eventually realized that there were people I wanted to hike with and places I wanted to see that required clothes and just settled. But I almost always have a moment on clothed hikes when I say to myself "Man, this would be so fun to do naked!" It really grows on you.
No, I enjoy being out in nature year around so clothing is necessary most of the year. Like Andy and Di, I hike nude when its practical and enjoy it very much but I'm never going to limit what I love to do just because I can't do it nude.
