Just spent the last couple of hours nude in the garden building a composting bin. We used to compost years ago and don't quite know why we stopped. But trying to get back in the habit.

Good for the garden, good for the environment.

It's a crude bin lol, made from 3 pallets and I had laying around. But it didn't cost anything.

My first compost bins were built similarly from whatever materiels were laying around but I later upgraded to a pair of bigger home-made ones with one for the fresh stuff which is tirned over into the maturing bin for another year - see the video at https://vimeo.com/256591831/
The run-off fluid is collected in a sump for pouring on wherever it is needed.

Maybe that's what I need for my wife's flower bed. She has a weeping cherry in it that has some type of fungus on it she can't seem to get rid of. She thinks maybe the fungus was in the top soil I got when we built the bed.

I use the chickens to process my compostables! They certainly enjoy it.

We have one of the plastic compost bins, which has been sat doing nothing behind the shed for years. We have recently emptied it ready for disposal. If anyone wants it, and is willing to collect, you can gladly have it.
