Return to DiscussionsWE have had a warm week here so far in the north woodswith temps in the low 70's. I believe that yesterday is thefirst time I've ever raked leaves naked!
I would rake leaves naked if I bothered to rake them but I find it
best to leave them for a few days and the autumn gales take them
away without any effort on my part.
Its been beautiful today and the sun was out, so I thought why not.I had 5 raised bed to cover over for the winter plus two others that needed weeding.Well it was cold, but with the physical work of puling weeds and transporting them to the compost heap I was able to keep nicely warm.However, covering the now empty beds was not so physical and by the time I'd finished I was getting cold.Soon warmed up by clearing all the tools and checking on my greenhouse.All in all a very productive and a bonus naked time in the garden.
Yes, the first of the week was awesome here in the 80-90sF. We took advantage by mowing, picking up walnuts from the drive, brush hogging, weed eating, raking, picking peppers and then plowing the garden under, etc. etc. Even the pool was only moderately chilly. Headed down to frost warning for this weekend. Hope you have everything winterized!
