A new gardening year

Return to Discussions

The weather has been warm and sunny the last couple of weeks here and it sure is nice to be back in the garden naked again.
What is everyone planting this year?

RE: A new gardening year

I've been out gardening for a few months now. One of the reasons I live in the Midlands of SC. The Holland flower bulbs: tulips and daffodils are spent. Irises are coming up. Hereborous are still pretty.

We put in our first plantinh of green beans two weeks ago and they have sprouted. Second planting in a week after we get the bird netting up. They were diggiing up the bean seedlings. In adition, our carrots are begnning to pop thru. Have not seen the cucumbers yet. We were late planting this year, it snowed here on May 1st! And a hard freeze overnight. Killed all the bulbs. Will put some pics up in a couple of days. Happy nude gardening.

Most of my garden is in now, but there is a frost advisory out for tonight so I'll be out covering everything. Hopefully this will be the end of that for the season.

Here on the Gulf Coast it's hot now. A late freeze all but wiped out my 1st veg planting but most of all that were froze back came back thick and bushy. Got my 2nd planting in about a month ago. My lettuce harvest is coming to an end due to the heat. Enjoyed some green beans and will be picking tomatos off those frost burned bushes in about a week. Expect tomatos off my 2nd planting in about 3 weeks and peppers all summer. Will be planting heat tolerant varieties soon but really looking forward to all those chemical free heirlooms. Happy nude gardening everyone. Live Naked!

I did not expect it to warm up today but yes it was warm enough to mow nude again in the middle of Sydney!

Have moved to a different location and most of my garden relocated with me. I'm predominantly into orchids and bromeliads besides the instant herbs and vegetable seedlings, which we seasonally grow, even getting towards winter.

A NUDE Gardening Year

I am an avid organic gardener and former commercial grower and after living and culturing gardens and greenhouses in many 4 season states it is a complete joy to be able to grow warm weather crops like tomatoes year round here in San Diego. I recently planted 13 fruit trees in my small front lawn in an attempt to have privacy some years down the line so to be nude in front too. I'm replacing concrete around the pool with edible ground covers and adding multi crop perimeter gardens to sustain my naturist guests and me. Not to mention the wonderful aesthetics that plants bring with joy and ambiance. And why water so much lawn in a desert anyway? ;-)
