Excited Gardening This Year
Return to DiscussionsWas a bit cool for the walk down there but wonderful day to spend a few naked hours in the greenhouse getting some seeds on the go. Was so pleasant, once Id finished, I went and got a chair and sat enjoying the warmth and sunshine,
need to start my seeds and start cleaning up the yard have many plans if my legs and knees don't give out . bought a small walk in green house to put on back porch and the area where my inflatable pool was i'm thinking of raised garden beds or those metal garden containers that way i can garden nude more comfortably till my backyard is more screened in. so much to do can't wait .
Going at it big time this year, after years of preparation and minimal gardening it's time to turn it into a full time occupation. Got 7 acres fenced on the isolated mountainside to keep the deer out and all the mineral products collected by the truckload. Got some more clearing done over the winter and moved 11 apple trees into it. Getting a root cellar built to store some things when they're harvested. But a slight interruption caused by the weather. I worked on a riding mower and ordered some parts for it, (one I picked up last year cheap) It's got some minor things wrong with it, like flat leaky tires and a clogged needle valve in the carb with swelled needle tip and bad 0 ring. So got some tubes coming and a carb kit. Gonna set it up with grass catcher for collecting mulch. Just before the rain got about an acre cleaned up with the track loader and grass planted outside the fence. It's along the neighbors drive so won't be able to mow it clothes free, but that's only a minimal drawback. The 7 acres is isolated plenty downhill and out of sight from the drive.
Way too cold to do much here in MN, 10f this mourning. I have been cleaning up dead fall from the trees in the yard and trails. And cleaning up what the rabbits left after gnawing on some arborvitae. Much of what they left should be good enough for rooting, I may have gotten carried away though.
342 large ball starts and 298 emerald greens. Then found a bunch of seedlings that I dug up and got potted while they are still dormant.
It's warming up good here in TN (Tennessee) Just finished a cold spell that froze pretty good 2 nights. But 70's and sunshine now. Today got in 130 strawberry plants, gonna till up some more tomorrow and try planting carrots and beets and other things that can handle a little chill yet. In another 2-3 weeks it'll be time for the corn and sorghum and maters an peppers an such things to go in. doin it naturist style makes it feel better.
Glad to see a lot of us getting started. I think my last frost is behind me here. I am still digging out a trench so I can have a flat garden them year. Doubling the garden size. May start the hardening process so can transplant next weekend.
