Wade Phillips' future
Return to DiscussionsWith the Cowboys at 1-3 now (and Jerry Jones's lack of patience), how long do you think it will be before Jerry fires Wade? I like Phillips, and he has been a very good defensive coordinator, but he has never been able to put it all together as a head coach. I think if the Cowboys lose again this Sunday, the Cowboys chances of making the playoffs dim considerably, and Jones is very likely to dump Philips. What do you think?
Jerry Jones just decided. Jason Garret is now the head coach. There was talk several years ago the Phillips was just the interim coach, Garret was the head coach in waiting. Took a bit longer than I would have thought. Wade is an excellent defensive coordinator, and a nice guy, but has never been able to put it all together as a head coach. MIght also help if JOnes keep shis nose out of daily operations, but that's just my opinion.
