you look out the blinds or peephole and see uninvited strangers or service people who are there just trying to do their job.
so you pop open the door to your full monty pose and a big grin. that strikes me as disrespectful, discourteous and blatant exhibitionism.
yeah, it's your home - it's still rude.
in the big picture, I suspect they go away with a negative impression to be transferred to all nudists and nudist culture.
there lives a nudist trying to push their perspective down everybody else's throat. that is not acceptable even at a nudist club.

I agree to a point but I do not agree with what many, like you, lump each and every nude encounter, with nudism. In both cases, I NEVER said, "I'm a nudist." I didn't show them a membership card. I don't have signs on the door, although I'd like to, that state "this is a nudist home and you will encounter nudity. " Both times I simply said, "I'm not dressed." When they persisted, is when I decided, they must not care.
I agree with the whole full exposure thing. It's not right and it's done for shock value but in my case, and only in my case, I was trying to get the JW's to stay away and obviously, it worked. In the case of the young adults, they were persistent in wanting to talk and sell me something so I figured I'd do what I did and they'd leave ... they didn't.
So ... I think it's unwise for a nudist to assume that any and ALL nudity, anywhere, is automatically linked to nudism, and frankly ... it's just not true and those that think that way are misinformed and sadly mistaken. Two cases involving nude drivers; one male truck driver and one female driving a sedan. Both were involved in solo occupant, solo vehicle accidents. Both of them were naked. NO mention in the news feed that they were nudists. It did, however, state that they were both legally intoxicated. Within seconds of the posting of the news story, nudists ... nudists, began stating that these two incidents gave nudism as bad name. Fact is ... it gave driving drunk a continued bad name and had nothing to do with nudism.
Are there nudists that do things for shock value ... I suspect so but unless you are a known nudist to those that come to your door, whether you say it or announce it or have it posted on your door, these solicitors don't know whether you're a nudist or not and if they assume so, then they are only assuming such ... and they shouldn't do that.
we certainly can agree, that in your JW case, you accomplished your purpose.
as stated, in my opinion, it is not right/ok/respective to try and force one's own view onto someone else.
it is ok to agree to disagree without being disagreeable.
If a man answered the door naked, I would think of him as a pervert and not a nudist. I like that Andy would announce his nudity and not fully expose himself.
In Lees case being in his back yard and people coming around the house to where he is is different in that there was no ringing or knocking. He could have been hosting a nude party back there.

... and this has also happened to me three times; twice by the pool guy and once by the lawn maintenance guy. The pool guy caught me coming around the corner of the house. He wasn't suppose to be here taking care of the pool that day. I went inside and came out with shorts on. I explained that we are nudists and this is the way we live. If he was embarrassed or uncomfortable with that, he needed to adhere strictly to the schedule and any deviation would necessitate a text or phone call from him. He showed up again on the wrong day and that time I remained naked and told him, he could pack up and not come back. Both times, he acted like a 12 year old girl. He was a pathetic excuse for a grown man.
The lawn maintenance guy, Mexican guy, apologized and always makes lots of noise when he's here and beginning work. He sticks to the schedule and if he doesn't, he calls us to ask if he can come on a different day. I did get caught by the young guy that now cleans our pool. I didn't realize he was here. It was early in the morning ... 7:30 am! Because of what had happened prior, I keep an old pair of shorts in my work shed. I walked back, slipped on the shorts and came back around the corner of the house and he waved and said, "sorry, I should have let you know that you'll be my first stop of the day and that stop starts at 7:30. Is that okay?"
Simple communication between the nudist homeowner and the vendors they contract with goes a long way. Our pest control company always calls two days before to tell us that our pest control guy is coming. The pest control guy always comes to the door and rings the door bell, knocks on the door then starts work. If we answer the door, no worries. If we're in the backyard, we've been warned and it's our fault but we've never been caught by him,

I do not ever expect that I will answer my front door nude to a stranger because I have no wish to risk offending them. Or even a nudist friend because neighbors would see. I have a couple of acquaintances that expect me to be nude when I answer the back door, but I would not answer nude to a random knock. I had one experience when a neighbor unexpectedly entered my private back yard. That is quite different, and it worked out fine.
