Taking the Room Doors off

Return to Discussions

When we finally achieved the dream of being Empty Nesters, (love our
kids but were tired now) the first thing I wanted to do is take the
interior doors off except for the bathrooms. I just love the openness of
it all is why. Our bedroom is on the 2nd floor, it might as well have
no door as it's never closed as there is no reason for anyone to be up
there anyway. We have had nudist guest spend the night and they didn't
see the reason for shutting the guest room door on the main floor
either.
I never did get those doors off, the initial response
from the Mrs if I recall was a puzzled look and a couple 'what if's' so I
just kind of let it go. Now I am getting serious thoughts about bldg a
new house on a wooded property the Mrs owns. Besides the design of
total house privacy for the build the second thoughts are don't build it
with interior doors (except bathrooms) to begin with.
Wonder your thoughts and ideas.

Hi there :-),
One very good reason to keep the doors "on", would be a fire precaution, smoke spreads very easily. x

I understand the idea and concept but ... we'll leave the doors on our rooms on. There are times when we will have overnight guests, some textile and since we are naked in our bedroom and bathroom, it makes sense to keep the door on so we don't expose ourselves to the textile friends. Thereare many times when ournudistfriends come to stay for several nights.Theyare our closest friends. We've even shared a room and bathroomfor several nightswith one couple and that's really saying something for my wife because she needs her privacy. Yes ... we are naked all the time around each other. Yes, there are many times we've walked by their rooms and the door is wide open but ... there are times when they may want some privacy. If they feel the want or need to have a private discussion, do some personal grooming outside the bathroom ... have sex ... we want to provide them with that privacy.
We've stayed at our nudist friends homes and will keep the door open all the time except when we want a little privacy for each other. Frankly, we can't go for very long without being intimate so it's nice to be able to have that time and have the privacy. It was tough when we stayed with our friends in that one room but we got through it and ended our trip at theirhome and made up for lost intimate time! LOL I think keeping the doors on still allow that ability to shut them in some cases. I know that when our friends door is open, they are open to having us knock on the door jam before entering. At the same time, if their door is closed, we know they do not want to be disturbed. ;-)

I believe it's the best way of being a nudist and having a nudist home

We love having the doors off! We removed the master bathroom door to our home and I filled in and painted the trim. Unfortunately, when we rented that house the renters specifically asked to have the door put back in. We thought...how weird are those folks!?

Very good idea. But there are reasons to keep doors too. How about keeping a part of the house with few rooms being kept without door if space permits?

The only reason for a door on the master bedroom is to keep the dog out; the guest bedrooms are another issue, it's up to them. Our preferences are well known.

I'm thinking of have the beds not exposed to the entryway unless you actually enter the room too.Thats something I haven't thought of and I do like that idea

RE: Taking the Room Doors off

growing up I never had a bedroom door. My room was my turf if I wished to be nude I was and everybody was fine with it. My sister, a year older probably learned more about boy's anatomy and how it worked than she ever would have from sex ed and girls talking. I never hid anything I was doing because there was no way to. I know growing up she saw me stroking whether it was by choice or accident, I don't know some of her friends who spent the night learned anatomy as well, none ever complained some spoke frankly giving me credit for not hiding my body. My kids growing up had bedroom doors but they were very rarely closed.
