Naked At Home - 2014 / 2024 -

For people who like to be naked in the house...

It appears to me there are a lot of people on here that class themselves as nudists, but in fact the only time is when they are nude alone in their bedroom wanting to chat ( usually by web cam ) I appreciate that some people are not as fortunate as me to have the house to themselves but have to flat share. I am not looking a long debate in the rights or wrongs of this subject. But in my mind you either are or not happy to be a nudist. The whole throwing back the duvet and saying look Im a nudist is a bit out of place. Just wish people would take note and think what truly am I?? a nudist or an exhibitionist

RE: Nudist Bedders

I would like to offer the following distinction for consideration.

Nudist - someone who prefers to be nude at some
times or some places.
Exhibitionist (as it relates to nudity) - someone who like to be seen nude

Voyeur (as it relates to nudity) - someone who
likes to look at other people in the nude
In my
mind these are not the same thing even if there is overlap.
You can have someone who prefers nudity and who also like to been
seen nude. I can want to be nude and not want to been seen. I
can also want to be nude and not want to see other
people's body parts.
Sidebar: To
me the whole desire to skype is more exhibitionism or voyeurism
than nudism and in some cases just cyber-sexual.

The practice may arise from a desire or compulsion to expose
themselves in such a manner to groups of friends or acquaintances,
or to strangers for their amusement or sexual satisfaction or to
shock the bystander. - Baunach, Dawn Michelle. "Exhibitionism" in
Sex and Society. Tarrytown, New York: Marshall Cavendish, 2010.
ISBN 978-0-7614-7906-2. p.220
French voyeur which means
one who looks. Seems the colloquial use of the term means to
secretly look at someone who is nude or having sex
etc.
Well that is my two cents.

RE: Nudist Bedders

I like to be nude! Just like the feel of being without clothes. Especially outdoors in the open air and sunshine. I It's great at the nude beach. I don't stroll up and down the beach so other people see me but for the fact that is very relaxing and meditative to me.
Being at a nude resort and around other nudists is nice but it's also nice being nude around the house when no one else is there.
As for skyping in the nude I think that's more of a exhibitionist thing myself but hey! to each his own. That's not something I'm in to.

I think people have misread my post as it seems to be going off on a tangent!! maybe I was not clear on my reasons. I like to partake in the Nudist lifestyle and believe I do to an effect, I am nude at home ALOT!! I go to beaches, I have been to BN events, swims and met a few nice folk from this site. Alot of this is done away from my home/ bedroom . The point I was trying to make is.... I am not sure that lying in your bed at night nude ( which is how non naturists sleep also ) and going on a website looking for Cam situations then going on to explain they are not nude out of that situation is justified enough to call yourself a nudist. My spelling, grammar and intelligence is not at correct as some of the posters as they are more indepth in reasons, Im just saying it how I see it, does this make me wrong??

RE: Nudist Bedders

I've been sleeping nude since before I was 20 years old. That didn't make me a nudist, it made me a textile who liked to sleep naked. I didn't even consider myself a nudist during the 15 years that I went to the saunas of Europe, it was just a normal thing to do, or when I went on holiday to the nude beaches of the Greek Islands and Mallorca. I was just a textile who enjoyed the atmosphere and freedom of the nude beaches; when in Rome... Now I make an extra effort, I participate in discussion boards, I live the life when I can and when I can't I get depressed and join the textile world to go shopping or to work. So don't tell me you're a nudist when all you do is sleep naked. That makes you a textile who chooses to sleep naked, where no one can see you.

my name is randy-i find it curious that i even have to clarify my nudism-i may be naive but it is my assumption that if one is a member of true nudist it goes without saying "i am a nudist".-if i must clarify that to someone then i automatically believe that they are here for the wrong reasons-i maintain that "there is nothing more comfortable than nothing"-i enjoy the freedom of being naked-i find winter to be depressing because it denies me of my truest and greatest enjoyment, the freedom of being naked-i am past the days of caring about my image-not that i ever did-i have grown older-i now wear my chest around my waist-i have never had an appendage worthy of amazement-being naked is just normal to me-i wish we all could just hang out and be ourselves-i admit there is a pun here--so here is to the true nudists-may your suntans have no lines and may you have a place to find fun in the sun

I would like to add the point that there are many members of this forum are would-be nudists who have not yet fully embraced nudism.
We should not to disparaging them for their current lack of commitment. Not everybody finds it easy to take the plunge.

RE: Nudist Bedders

I think many here are taking nudist to mean a person who is nude
whenever possible or a great deal of time and leaving out those who
are on the other end of the spectrum, maybe those who sleep only
nude.

You can do that if you want but I think that is a fatal mistake and
here is why I think it is the wrong way to look at it. If you
want nudism to have a good impression on the general population it
makes sense to make nudism something they can relate too.
Let's be honest, the general population thinks
nudist are perverts. Why, because they
don't know better. If the only example
they know of nudism is people who seem to only want to show off or
look at others in the nude they will not understand it is not only
about that.

If we want nudism to grow in popularity or just have a favorable
impression on the general populace then we need to get to a place
where people can relate to the feeling of wanting to be nude.
So, if we define nudism as the preference, whenever and wherever
you like. This then makes a spectrum of nudism, from people who
only prefer nudity only when they shower, to people who prefer
nudity in a full on social situation. Everyone would fall
somewhere on this spectrum and then in some way be able to relate
to the more enthusiastic nudists. Once they can relate to
nudism they will have a favorable impression of nudism.

As for dictionary definitions they are written by textiles who
don't know any better. This is an issue
of colloquial use of a term verses a more refined and specific
definition used by people in the know.

Take it or leave it you don't have to take my
advice. If you want to better the perception of nudists I
suggest considering my point.
