Open/Closed Door Policy?
Return to DiscussionsBefore I get started, I'd like to be clear on some things. I do not pose this question for the sake of wanting to gain the audience of just anyone, unwanted nor anyone whom the parents/heads of household don't want to have witness private/intimate moments.
The question I pose is due to the fact that a few months ago, I got to spend a few days at my friend's home. They are not only nudists, but their old home has no doors. Upon pointing out this discovery of mine, he told me that the previous owner had enlarged all previous doorways and removed them to give the house an Open and Airy feel. When I asked about how he and his wife got around to handling their more intimate moments, he said, "This house has taught us to break down that last barrier. Becoming nudists before the kids came along was a cinch, but this was tougher. Now, we've all learned to live with no barriers."
As you can imagine, my mind was all over the place. So my question to you folks is, Open Door, Yes or No and Why? Why for either answer. I think we all stand to learn about our takes on this matter.

My last house had no door from master bedroom to bathroom. I guess it was a couple open door policy. It worked well for us and now doors indoors seem strange to have.
When we recently moved into our house it had no door from Master bedroom to bath room. We both decided that we wanted a door installed before we moved in. Granted there is really nothing to hide between us, but now it can be used as a second bathroom when guests are at the house. We also wanted to be able to block out the light when one of us got up in the middle of the night. I prefer to have a cozy room to sleep in rather than having it open and airy. Open doors work only when all parties are more or less on the same sleep schedule. When it is just the two of us, we usually have the bedroom door open, but usually closed when guest or adult kids are home.
My house is quite small and I've taken off all the doors but do have an opaquescreen to the front sitting room as it's very open to the street and I don't like curtains. I do live on my own but guests don't seem to have a problem with it
Our boys are grown now, but even when they were home we kept the bedroom door open. If we were intimate, they would excuse themselves and come back later, or we would stop and see what was wrong depending on situation. Never a big deal but then again we didn't flaunt it either.
