I think Audiobiker is correct in that there is a time and place for thongs and t-shirts at a beach, resort or for women at certain times. However, if you can take the time for a photo then try and take off the thong for a few minutes. I do understand that we women get self conscious and while exposing our breasts is not that big a deal anymore letting the world see our vaginas can be quite personal. I never had a problem letting everyone see everything at anytime, but I'm not everyone.
It could be that many of the photos in profiles are model photos copied from another site and simply posted in TN, too.

Oh, and by the way, thank you to everyone who have not let this also turn into another sexual discussion by the, "Everything is normal and natural," crowd.

I am of the opinion that since this is a nudist site and not a thong site, might as well be nude. I am wondering if a "thongist" is just a shy nudist? At any rate, I don't own a thong and cant imagine ever wearing one, but to each their own.

I dont like thongs, I prefer a lap lap, maybe I should stick some Velcro to the hips then the lap lap could be worn with no strings attached.

Thongs? no I do not have any. Why should I? I am a true nudist, and total nudity is my passion. I must admit in the garden I sometimes wear slippers to protect my feet on the gavel and stones. Today has been great, and I have enjoyed total nudity at home.If you wear a thong amongst fellow nudists, are you really one of us?

For nudist activities or pics, I am nude. I do own thongs but seldom wear them out of the bedroom. Hubby has taken pic of me in thongs but you won't find them on this site.

Sorry but see them as only serving one purpose and that is to be provocative. That is not what naturism means to me. Furthermore why would anyone want to wear something so uncomfortable on a regular basis. Nude is far preferable.

I agree 100%, just like why is a naturist campground clothing optional. A naturist campground promotes naturism, that means NAKED, the only time clothing should be allowed is if weather conditions require it.

I am surprised how many TrueNudists post pictures of them self in a thong or T shirt. While a thong may be sexy it does not seem to be what a true nudist would post. I if want to be nude, I want to be totally nude. Other thoughts?Where I live, it is illegal to show your genitals or your anus (sorry for the blunt language). That means (for women and men) that the minimum you can wear without fear of legal repurcussions is a thong. A g-string is technically not enough fabric as far as the law here is concerned. So the reason might be legal (safety) or it may be that they are not comfortable enough to have a full nude photo. As for me, you'll see a full nude photo before you see a thong, but you're not likely to see either any time soon. Sorry, my decision.
So, the only reason I would choose to wear a thong (other than a joke for my wife) would be for tanning purposes. If I can safely accomplish it, no thong. To date, I tend to skip it if a thong is needed. I'll come back the next day.

Anyone who wishes is welcome to wear a thong ... but almost naked is NOT naked ...Agreed, a thong is not naked. Close...but not naked.
Oh, and they really are not very comfortable, but neither are bras and millions of people wear those every day for most of the day.
