Increased frequency of "Hi, I'm new to the group" with empty profiles?

Return to Discussions

Has anyone else noticed? This group, and quite a few others I'm in, have multiple "Hi, I'm new" discussions by people with little information (if any) in their profile.
Some try to get people to contact them directly on private emails.
Some try to get people to visit other sites.
I don't know about you, but all the discussions below theirs are the ones that contain valuable conversations between members. Some of the "hi, I'm new" discussions are within the normal history of the site, but this recent uptick seems significant, seems to contain multiple people providing no information and seem to be using this as a hookup site.
Thoughts?

I agree, seen an increased frequency in these types of posts and to all those that state that they are new and shy and private and ...
You'll only get out, what you put into a site such as this. If you are secretive, unwilling to share a little information, you can't possibly think that others will just friend you and spill their guts to you on the internet.
I don't get the ... "just ask me if you want to know." So ... are these people saying that if you contact them via email or private message, they will then spill their guts? I've had a few of these contact me and the conversation starts out innocent enough but after several questions and replies, it usually goes sexual and the truth comes out. NOW ... not all are like that but it sure makes one skeptical and cautious.
Most fakes, lurkers, trolls will notexpend any time at allfilling out their profiles. Some of those that take the time to fill out their profiles, share some information, speak of their experiences, travels, how they live as nudists, it's probably a fair bet that they are who they say they are and are usually looking for others they can relate to, have things in common besides nudism and become friends with. If you're not willing to share a little about yourself, you surely can not expect others to share any information about themselves, be willing to ask you any questions and become friends with an unknown.
;-)

edward957: Definitely helps. Welcome. For my 2 cents, don't feel that you have to provide a nude photo showing your face. I have not and don't plan to. What you choose to post is completely up to you. Don't feel pressured by people trying get you to show more than you want to.

When I see a new member posted I check out there profile to see if there is any info there. If there is, then I post a welcome comment. If not then I don't, if later they post info in there profile them I give them a welcome.

I have a simple rule: no profile information, then no interaction. Period.

Ok.. I,m a "new here kinda empty profile member" person, hope you,ve all had a grt sunny nude day..mine was, getting use to it at home, for now. Ive read some of these interesting responses to this problem this site is having & Quite frankly, your spot on with your concerns, as I too, have some doubts about "putting my self up for exposure to undesirables" at such an early stage...you,ve got it, ive never been nude in public before, but its always been there at the back of my mind, " I,d love to enjoy the freedom you all seem to be having". so, late on in my life it is, but here I am trying to take the plunge & Ive walked in on a suspicious moment! I will pursue with my profile, but in my own time & if I,m not greeted by the open arms of your community & friendliness I know you possess I probably, with regret, wont take that plunge & I,ll walk away with a bad experience of trying to join something i so wish to be part of.
Already ive been in a previous discussion with people who were asked "is ok to masturbate openly on a beach?" These are the people who should be cancelled for even thinking of it! not the ones who are testing the waters to see if its right for them.
thanks to all, I look forward to reading more & observing :-)..

A few days ago I had a " Hi " message on my PM. No profile info just the fact he wanted a masturbation buddy. Of course I ignored the request.

Maybe it is time to move along and to find a new site, or to police TN better? I am considering dropping my membership. There are too many(increasing it seems) fakes trying to get access to pics and other information for...whatever! I like 90% of the people I have met. It only take a (an increasing) few! I always bypass the empty profiles. The problem is that TN was more True and is sliding towards the fakers being ever-present.
The bigger problem is that every site will start heading that way. The answer is more TN policing. Further, they need to use technology better. They can detect a lot of information with regard to the network traffic coming in. If there is an account that should be locked out, lock it out and block traffic coming from that device, or redirect it to a section where they can appeal their sentence.
Technology can help. They can automatically lock accounts that use key phrases that should trigger their account being locked. They can be reviewed if it happens in error, but technology can help the site if they choose to use it.

I wish this site had a Certified and Paid member only section. If there was a section to this site that only let you in if you were Certified and Paid member then most people and topics in that area would most likely be from TrueNudists. This of course isn't a guaranty but I bet it would eliminate 99% of the fake people.

This of course isn't a guaranty but I bet it would eliminate 99% of the fake people.Think that's a great idea as well. there should be an area that is only certified members or something to help weed out the fakes. same applies for the chat area.
The problem you and Gillin have is you think that only legitimate nudists are the people that will pay for a membership, or that only legitimate nudists would get certified. You are both wrong.
There is enough activity on this site that caters to their needs for it to be worth it to get certified (something that legitimate nudists in numerous professions would have to choose not to do for the sake of their careers or their reputations, or even the safety of their lives) and even to pay the membership fee. If someone gets off masturbating in chat rooms or skyping and engaging in sexual activity with other members, the membership fee would be more than worth it to them.
To be honest, and I hate to be this blunt about it, but people advocating that "forcing certification and forcing paid membership" will weed out the fake accounts have put very little thought into their arguments.
If you are angry with me for that statement, fine. Many of the best TRUE nudists on this site are neither certified members, nor paying members. Some of the best TRUE nudists are certified, and some of the best are both certified and paying members. The point is, the bad people are bad. They are present in the free member category, certified member category and paid member category. Learn that fact, because believing that certification and paying for the service gives you fewer fake accounts is ignorant.

I never said it should be mandated. However I did say it would be nice to have an area that is restricted to paying or certified members. I don't think you must be certified or pay a fee in order to be a nudist or to even use the site. I just believe it would help to weed out some of the ones who create accounts on a whim to try to use the site as a place to hook up or drive people insane. I agree there are some people that will go to whatever lengths imposed to create an account and use it for the wrong purposes. as for their profession being jeopardized. your certification photos are not posted unless you choose to repost them. once they are sent in for certification they are not automatically displayed or added your profile. so they are at no risk of anything being exposed. not trying to argue any point or attack anyone at all. I just think having a more restricted area would be a nice addition to the website. There already are certified only groups. I will grant you that there should be a setting that prevents non-certified users from contacting you. Another setting to prevent non-certified users from seeing your profile if you've opened your profile to non-friends.
Outside of those settings, you are not protecting yourself any more by creating a caste system in the site for certified, paid and non-certified members.
As for the security of your certification photos...hackers probably have already accessed the whole trove of certification profiles at one point or another. I know enough about computer security and hacking to know that you have a false sense of security. Have a chat with Snowden and then tell me those photos are secure. No thanks. Feel free to believe those are safe and secure and that nobody but the site administrators will ever have access to them. Your choice, but it is a naive choice. My view, don't get certified unless you would be OK if those photos were ever leaked.
