For people who like to be naked in the house...

Is my neighbor a nudist, too?

Return to Discussions

What is the best way to approach someone to ask if they are a nudist? I have a next door neighbor who has a window facing our house from which I have seen him several times in the early morning (I have to leave at 5am for work) without a shirt, but this seems to be a kitchen window over a sink so I can't see anything else. In fact, the only time I have seen this gentleman dressed is one day when he helped me push my broken down Jeep into our driveway. I suspect he may be a nudist, and if so, I'd like to let him know we are as well and would like to invite him over for a barbecue or something, but given the circumstances, I can't think of a non-creepy way to ask. "Hey, I've seen you at five in the morning several times through your kitchen window. Are you a nudist?" just doesn't sound like a good idea. I don't want to come across as a creep. Also, I don't want to outright say something like "Hey, we're going to be grilling burgers, you want to have some? By the way, we're nudists." because we live in a trailer park without fences. It's a well-kept park, but I fear that the nature of the openness of the park could lead to concern on his part if he, in fact doesn't approve of nudity. Our back yard is still pretty secluded, but if he were to complain to management, we're being nude on THEIR land, and that could get us evicted and even tangled up with the law.
How do approach this delicately and without sounding like a total creep?

My whole village knows I'm a nudist. Some have seen me but I doubt any are nudists too. I did a sponsored naked dare and was collecting the money in last night. I did have picture proof. The only one who asked to see it was the vicar's wife. And she scrutinised my naked photos for a long time.

There's gotta be a "sign", you know, the look. I meet people in my neighborhood in the general course...walking the dog, doing yard work, chatting across the fence...etc, and while exchanging pleasantries, I always have in my mind...YOU TOO?, but until developing a casual enough friendship, it is too soon to ask. Neighbors we have had who did enjoy hot tubbing or "shuck n dive" spontaneous pool parties have since left the neighborhood and we are now left wondering...anyone else? I have in the back of my mind, who - based on their appearance or casual attitude might be an enlightened nudist. Come on neighbors, I know you are out there... show me a sign!

We have some signs around our pool - one says Nudist Avenue; one says Clothing Optional Beyond this Point. All of our neighbors have used the pool at one time or another this summer. Two neighbors have used the pool with permission while we were out of town, but neither one mentioned the signs. The other neighbor has come over nude with us several times, but she has a boyfriend now that is not into it at all. So I'm fairly certain the other two neighbors know but are not nudist, but are okay with us being nudists.

i suspect the 'new girl' is fully aware of the view from that sidewalk, and she was either more into being comfortable than modest for the few moments she needed in the kitchen, or she wanted to be subtle in her new neighborhood, but she enjoys flashing and was hoping someone noticed... if she's actually modest and was just careless, she'll be glad to hear about her 'exposure' now from you, along with ur sincere appreciation for her aesthetics, instead of enduring a lot of crude gossip months from now... bottom line is, for you its all good...! shes either gonna be glad you noticed and wanna do it again, or she's gonna be glad you noticed and fix it...;)

"'Excellent advice! When my neighbor caught me I told her I couldn't afford to wear clothes all day on my salary!'I like that one :-)"I've used a variation ("On my pension...") at the medics' offices for being commando. ;-)

Not neighbors, but I have commented to telecommuters that I know that it must be good to be able to work in shorts all summer.
Twice I got the response that the real advantage was to be able to work nude.
