Nude beaches with mud?
Return to DiscussionsI'm looking for any recommendations of nudist places with mud pools. Twice I've been to beaches (both in Spain) where I could cover myself in mud, wait for it to dry on to my skin, and then wash it off in the ocean:
1. S'Esplamador (near the island of Formentera).
Just near the Spanish Mediterranean island of Formentera is a small uninhabited island called S'Espalmador. Some people try to walk from Formentera at low tide but this is apparently dangerous because of the currents. Better to take one of the many boats that will drop you off on S'Espalmador and pick you up at the end of the day. It's a beautiful deserted island with golden sand beaches and absolutely no facilities. In the middle of the island there is a pool of black mud that people like to roll around in. All of Formentera (and S'Espalmador) beaches are apparently clothing optional, but textiles seem to outnumber nudists about 20:1 or more. I was the only person in the mud pools nude - the rest were mostly Italians on vacation wearing designer bikinis (I hope the mud doesn't stain!). Once I was completely covered in black mud I walked back to the beach and along the shore. The sun was really warm and baked the mud until it was hard and dry, then I washed it off in the sea.
2. Playa de Bolonia (near Tarifa in the south of Spain).
Playa de Bolonia is a long and wide beach with a nudist section in one end, and some mud that people coat themselves with at the other. Unfortunately the mud section isn't in the nude section. But, when I was there it was out of season and not that busy, so we went nude in the mud anyway and no one seemed to mind. A different kind of mud to S'Espalmador - fine and grey, not thick black and gooey - but still a nice feeling and the same experience of walking along the shore letting it dry and then washing it off in the ocean.
Does anyone know any others?
