Male Bonding2
For those who like to explore the concept and dynamics of male bonding. Men are socialized in different ways in different societies, and so many men would like to have close male friendships, yet after spending time establishing a career, primary relationship and live in general, find themselves without close male friends. Many of us want male friends with whom we can share openly without...
Is modern Culture destroying the Father figure?
Return to DiscussionsWhen I was a child, I and my brother would bath and shower with my dad. We didn't see it as sexual, and nor did he. He was being a true role model of masculinity. I see the modern part, but I don't see anything related to culture in such cases. I am still taking a bath with my sons sometimes and we still don't find anything sexual in our naled bonding. I think the situation in global is still the same as it was before, just some medias are more shocking.

AussieDain, a great summary of the current problem, as it is a problem. It is not, in my opinion a cultural matter , it is societal. I hope that the pendulum of which AussieDain refers will swing back soon.
The reaction over that pic is ridiculous. I always bathed with my young son, too. And we had fun in the tub with boats and cups and all manner of children's bath toys. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. It is perfectly normal and not child abuse (puh-lease!).
Now, I didn't go posting pics of bath time all over where the public could see, and maybe that is the real issue. People need to be a little more judicious about what they "share" on social media. I mean, I use the toilet regularly but I am not about to post pics of that for everyone in the connected social world to see!
We do find some interesting topics on this site. I don't know anything about showering with my father, and I don't have any children. I find too many commercials and sitcoms takingcheap shots at the father/male figure.
