Locker Room Nudists
People that go totally naked in the locker room without the need to hide themselves with a towel.
New gym, new environment
Return to DiscussionsI recently switched gyms to a more main stream one. I'm amazed at the radical difference in attitudes about locker room nudity! No one is ever naked in the locker room at my new gym. I see people taking their gym bags to the showers rather than stripping down at the locker. It's really a shame. I find that I'm 10x more conscious about stripping down at the locker there as well. I'm hoping to lead by example though and continue to be as naked as possible while in the locker room. I'm likely an outcast now, but hopefully others will join in over time.
The men at my gym were much like that too, I couldn't believe the trouble they would go to trying to change shorts and underwear under a towel.
I just got changed naked and walked through to the showers like it. I might not be a fit guy but I can't be doing with all that modesty - I really don't understand why guys have so many issues with being naked even for just a few seconds

I simply refuse to deal with this nonsense the clothes come off and they stay off the whole time I am in the lockers and they go back on when I leave, Taking steet clothing and items into the showers is a health code violation, lol. Ridiculous behaviour, the lockers are not in the showers for a reason, Glad you are not having it.
That us terrible about being shamed about our body and not being naked in the locker room... a few years ago j went to a water park and everyone was in line to change in the stalk bathroom I couldn't believe it either. Dad's and sons
Cell phones...... Everyone is carrying them. They're all equipped with cameras. It gets very uncomfortable when you are naked and a guy is in the locker room texting ( or taking a pic!)...
That used to bother me, but not anymore. If someone wants to take a pic of me nude, go right ahead. I am at the point that I am flattered that someone would risk getting kicked out of the gym for taking pics of me nude, and I don't really care where they end up. I have allowed total strangers to take pics of me in the gym shower.
It's not just a new locker room environment but a whole new world. In my sons' high school the only shower requirements are for those who join the wrestling team and have a risk of surface born skin diseases. Boys are not comfortable being naked around boys, nor do men know how to be men among men. Homophobia - fear of other men both in a social and sexual context - is causing males to live in anxiety over their bodies, and this is sapping men's vitality.
The nudist community contributes further to this dysfunction with gender parity rules. It's life under the Nudiban - where is your female escort?
Set the example of being your naked self with no shame whenever and however possible within local laws. Men's mental health depends on it!
Gyms are getting better(bigger and nicer equipment ) but locker room and showers are becoming more restrictive. There are many reasons for this but in locker rooms ,often, it's a herd mentality. Fear of doing things differently from the group. When locker room nudity was common you were weird if bundled in a towel and laughed at or told to leave if you tried to wear clothes in the sauna or steam. Now the opposite seems true but it doesn't have to be that way.
PreCovid I was sitting on my towel alone and nude in the steamroom. A guy came in wrapped in a large towel and wearing a tshirt. He looked at me then looked away and looked again. I have to admit my first instinct was to cover up after his second look but then he said "You're naked! You're OK with that? That's so cool!" He immediately took his shirt off. I had to leave but the next week I saw him in there and he was nude.
So sometimes just by doing your own nude thing other guys realize it's OK for them to do it, too.
Anyway don't feel like an outcast; be a trailblazer. Who knows who'll follow
personally i think a lot of the prudishness stems from so many men have never been in military or they were never in sports , and their school and colleges let them wimp out and go back to classes dirty after gym or PE, , it has become a sick society boys/ men can manipulate to be in girls dressing rooms or bathrooms just by saying they are trans gender or gender challenged, , same for girls in boys rooms .. and seems parents to quick to just sidle up to all this mallarky . quick fix just do away with gender specific bathroom have open showers and open bathrooms. have heard some European countries are that way for long time , . JMHO. dirty people and dirtier minds
Interesting points brought up about cell phones. I think there are far different dynamics involved based upon the venue. Other than for the males ashamed of their bodies, it is acceptable to be nude in a locker room, whereas not as much on a nude beach. Therefore, if someone subversively takes a photo in a locker room those caught in it may be a bit embarrassed but are not considered to be nudists. Whereas those caught in a photo on a nude beach would tend to be labeled nudists. We all know what that means.
I can't get over the modesty of so many younger guys at my gym. Most do not shower after working out. A few even go into the toilet stalls to change back into their street clothes. Some appear to be shocked that we older guys (I'm 70) will strip down and walk to the showers with our towels over our shoulders. Few of us would win the Penile Olympics. Get over size men.
