How does getting ink make you feel?

Return to Discussions

Personally, I think it's a journey. From choosing your artist and design through the pain, discomfort and pleasure of being tattooed to the healing period. After all that is done I love having a piece of art on my body. Proud of the freehand work that my artist, Dave, has enhanced my body with.

Its so addicting. I love the process. I love telling a story with my tattoos. Once my artist starts I get so relaxed.

After the tattoo is finished, I have an intense sense of accomplishment. Although, the process of getting tattooed is painful for me. I received my first tattoo, a band of barbed wire on my right bicep, 22 years ago. I added a tattoo to the inside of my left forearm February 2018, That tattoo is rather intricate and took 4.5 hours to complete. When the artist was finished, I said that tattoo, my second, would be my last, Well, I added a third tattoo, a tribal Bear paw, to my chest less than a month ago. Part of that last tattoo reaches up to my collarbone and was quite painful. I believe my liking of tattoos has trumped the pain that I experience because I am already planning 2 more.

Yes I agree about the journey, I had one artist say it wouldn't work, then a friend told me about his artist and he said he loved it and would do it himself. Nearly five hours later she was finished.
