Nudity in front of my dad
Return to DiscussionsSo my father is coming to visit in about a month. Usually it's him and my mom but this time around it's just going to be him; I will accompany his stay at the hotel.
Now I've made it known to both of my parents (mostly everyone I know really) that I am a nudist and like to live as such. They video chat once in awhile and generally I answer while nude. I've never really felt it appropriate to be nude in front of both of my parents but have figured since it's just going to be my dad and me this time around that it would be a perfect opportunity to test some waters. After all, with someone like my dad, we're guys, we used to shower together when I was young, he used to be in the army (most definitely took communal showers then)....shouldn't be a big deal right? It's a good opportunity that I definitely don't get often and I feel like this could lead to a bonding experience.
This is definitely nothing sexual in any way. I figure if I keep it casual then he may not even notice or perhaps just not make a big deal of it. For context, my dad is a goofball type always making jokes, and as I got older the subject matter of his jokes would mature too and now have become quite raunchy, especially if my mom is not around (which she won't be for this trip). Every time my dad and I talk there's always some kind of joke about dicks or masturbating....something like that. However, he's never really shown much interest in nudity, or at least not the public kind -- I invited him to a korean sauna while he's here, and after I explained what that was he just laughed and said "hell no".
He's never really spoken much about me being a nudist so I'm just wondering if this really is a good time to try casual nudity in front of my dad. I doubt he'll throw a fit if say he sees me drying off after a shower and then putting on gym shorts. but would just kicking back in the hotel room fully nude the whole time be too much? Does anyone have a similar experience that went well, or advice on how to approach being nude in front of my dad and/or get him comfortable enough to try it with me?
Nudity was never an issue in front of or with my dad so I can't give expert advice, but communication is always important. Instead of just springing it on him, maybe open a conversation on it with something like 'You know I'm a nudist, so I hope you don't mind if I relax in my most comfortable state', or 'would you mind if I relax like I'm used to'.
Respectfully have to say you already seem to have the answer. Your post expresses much doubt and reservation. You invited Dad to the spa and his answer was an absolute no. It's a big stretch from cheesy jokes to a nude hangout with Dad. Respect his limits and enjoy a wonderful time with him.

Hey he already knows your a nudist so I would imagine that sharing a room with you he would expect that you'll be naked at times so chill out and be you and how you would normally be .. as youve had conversations and joking around masterbating and cocks then all will be good and totally natural so be you and go with the flow as Im sure he will enjoy the Experience and time with him. :-)
given what you say about your father, I think the situation should be reversed, that is to say that it is he who enters the bathroom when you are naked discover naked, if he says excuse me you don't answer him any problem and that naturally you go out in the room and don't get dressed. Things have to happen naturally. If you announce that you want to live naked in his presence you will force him to position himself which is not obvious, he must avoid speaking out and act as if it is natural as in the good old days of the army !!
I took my dad to a men's athletic club -- well over thirty years ago. I had purchased him a gift certificate for a massage at the athletic club. I was quite surprised to find out that he'd never had one. I hadn't either, but I thought he'd pretty much done everything.
Got there, he went to check in with the therapist; I stripped and went down to the pool. I was swimming laps when he came down. He was wearing his underwear (boxer shorts). I thought that was rather bizarre. He said the therapist told him to go soak in the hot tub to loosen up a bit -- the therapist would send someone to get him when he was ready. So, he sat in the hot tub wearing his boxer shorts with a bunch of nude men.
Given that my dad grew up on a farm in the 20s and 30s when nudity among boys wasn't given a second thought and his military experience with communal showers, I was certain he'd be totally comfortable being nude among a bunch of nude men -- everyone else was nude. Maybe he would have been comfortable if I had not been there, but I was nude and totally comfortable.
Would really like to hear what happened with your dad. I wouldn't have given a second thought to just being nude in that situation.
Hey there. I ran across this and was wondering how the visit went. My older brother, who has hung nude at Burning Man events, will be visiting me later this summer and I'm in the same sort of predicament. Do I hang around my house nude as usual during his visit, or perhaps do I just swim nude in our pool and keep shorts on the rest of the time. Choices, choices. I doubt he'd care, but I also don't want to give him the impression that I am forcing my nudity on him.
As a father, I can't imagine that any other dad would be bothered while seeing his own son naked. The fact that he didn't want to go to korean spa is a different thing, as he's not a nudist. If you told him you are a nudist, he is warned of what may happened.
Maybe you can just ask him if he minds that you be naked. Hope he doesn't!
I think your Dad already knowing you are a nudist will actually be surprised if you DIDNT go nude in the hotel room!. In fact he will probably feel young again and join you. I know I would have loved being nude with my dad. I think you will enjoy the weekend and have some fun with him as well,, You just never know
