Return to DiscussionsI know that being a true Naturist is about accepting everyone and Thier bodies for what they are and I do. The real beauty of a person is inside of them. ATTITUDE/ PERSONALITY. But I have a problem with mine. So I choose to change it. Then many I will post a before and after.
i do understand. I have body scars after significant weight loss. It's really easy to hear people say "It's part of who you are embrace it". It's quite another to do it. They don't always understand that yes it's part of me, but it's also the first thing I notice about myself and a fear of how people will react seeps in. I'm better about it than when I first got it, but it still happens and worry takes over.
Being comfortable in ones skin is great. To me it doesnt mean one may not feel the need to do keep up or try to improve what you already have. I dont have any problem being nude around people. I have enjoyed being at a nudist resort a few times. Health and feeling healthy is very important also. I have a job that requires me to be able to lift at least 70 pounds. Keeping my body strong is a wise thing to help keep my job and make my days go by better at work. I dont workout for others. I workout for me. My wife likes the look and wanting to give her a husband that looks good to her naked is a plus for our relationship. Feel good about yourself either way while feeling healthy.
I have found that being naked with others is a great way to become comfortable with your own body. The first time I was naked with others, it was terrifying, but after a while you just engage in conversation and practically forget you're completely exposed. It has also helped me become more accepting of others.
I now often find that most people look far better without clothes, even with whatever flaws they think they have. More than likely, others won't notice the flaw you are so focused on. Or, with something like scars, it can be a conversation starter!
Make all the changes to yourself that you want, but make sure you're doing it for you, not for what you think others want to see.
I consider it important to be comfortable in my own skin and naked socially, but don't see it in terms of absolutes. There's always someone in better or worse shape, or more prudish or more exhibitionist than I am. Key is that I'm in process: getting fitter and healthier and more socially adept textiled or not.
Bodies are slow to change, and even slower to change in lifestyle. I happen to have some back issues and much of my exercise is preventative in nature, but after several years of focus things are more under control and I can train for vanity over pain.
Key to a good routine is good people. I'm grateful to have an early morning group at the Y who have become friends. We're of a wide range of issues and abilities, from 19 to 94, so we focus on the process and not the results and all keep on coming back.
Good luck!
