Wind Generated Power

Return to Discussions

I think I have come up with a relatively inexpensive wind mill generator. I will be starting on a prototype soon and will document with photos and plans on this site so others can duplicate and improve upon. Any ideas and advice is much appreciated. Thanks.

RE: Wind Generated Power

Hi, I am certainly interested, have been wanting to get a start on building a Vertical Wind Generator for some time, don't suppose yours will be vertical one?
Will be following the thread with interest.

Hey Guy, how's it goin'?
As I have been involved in alternitave power systems for many, many years I will eagerly await your idea and if i can help you with the prototype, please let me know, either here or by e-mail.
Sense I am a longtime "Ham" radio operator I have at every place I've lived had a communications tower up so I use the tower for both communications antennas AND an "eggbeater" style wind generator. I have been using these style of generator ever sense they came out as they are more efficent, and will catch wind from any direction with just a little breeze. I can give u spec's on them va the old wind vane style if u like.
The other reason for using a communications tower is that I have several Votaic [solar] cells mounted on the tower directly and the mounts are such that they slide out to a 90 degree positition to the tower then track the sun's movement from rise to set then fold back up against the tower making the ability to have as many cells as I wish on the tower. In this way, having votaic cells AND the wind unit, I have the best of both worlds.
