Quickly flicking off shorts and a t-shirt - if I'm driving in thongs (flip flops) they're off anyway as they are a hazard when using pedals - and enjoying a windows-down beeeze in the summer heat is definitely my preference, especially if my journey involves a beach destination.

l learned when we were visiting my wife's brother that in Australia, thongs mean flip flops not underwear or swimwear.
We took them to a fairly nice restaurant. There was a sign in the lobby that said that men in thongs were allowed in the bar area, but not the dining room.
I was puzzled until his son in law said that they were referring to footwear, not underwear or swimwear.
Since the son in law was wearing thongs (Australian definition), we had dinner at a table in the bar ares.

My wife used to complain when I would take my sandals or flip flops off and drive barefoot. After I offered a few times to leave my sandals on and take my shorts off a she stopped saying anything.
