Who can see me experiment
Return to DiscussionsI did my morning commute naked three days last week. Drove home naked one afternoon. I was really starting to wonder if other drivers could see so I conducted an experiment while I was wearing shorts. I laid my phone in my lap and pointed the camera out the passenger side window. I viewed the camera from my Apple Watch screen while I drove down the interstate in the fast lane. I knew if I could see the other drivers on the screen they would be able to see me. I only saw the drivers in large trucks like 18 wheelers, big dump trucks etc. No SUVs, vans or other vehicles could see me. The vehicle I was driving is very low and has a lot of glass. YMMV depending on your vehicle and the size of the windows and a host of other variables but I'm confident that only very high vehicles can see me. I still want to tint the windows as dark as it legal though.
True but there is also an argument for not getting arrested. That is my wish. They are so close minded around here they would haul you to jail and label you a sex offender.

I occasionally drive naked, and the only time I have been seen is when a bus passed me in the fast lane when I was driving on the interstate freeway one day, and some passengers on my side of the bus glanced down as they went past. They didn't seem worried. However, I always keep a pair of shorts on the passenger seat, just in case I get pulled over by the police. :-))

I've been keeping a pair of shorts handy to cover up with or put on quickly if needed. Sometimes I don't bother especially with passing trucks. Last week I passed one and the traffic suddenly started slowing down in my lane. The truck very obviously sped up so he could get a better view I guess. He must have been pushing that truck as hard as he could to catch up! Later on another trucker honked his horn right after I drove by.
It's simple really. Know your state laws regarding nudity. Most states only have obscenity laws, which obviously an extreme form of exhibitionism. But for just being naked & enjoying nature I find the main issue is more trespassing than nudity (if you're a wanderer like me). I was happy to discover that it's legal to drive naked in Nebraska - as long as" it doesn't create alarm". This means prudent decisions.
For back roads & county roads, you're good. But driving down a main boulevard or street, or pulling alongside a school bus unintentionally - you most likely will create "alarm". Knowledge is power. You'll be confident knowing the law & how it applies to nudity. So enjoy nudity.
It is down to how high the other vehicle is and how close you are to it. Ones I think I was seen by a farm tractor driver as we had to pass each other in a passing place on a single track lane, and he looked my way and his expression changed slightly so I think he saw I was nude. I have had to drive slowly past people walking but they never look into the car. Yes I always have a pair of shorts handy in case I need to cover up and do this in heavy slow moving/stopped traffic, in case there are any board children looking out of the car window and see me nude.
LOL I to have done the phone camera in the lap a number of times recently as I have changed jobs and vehicles. Yep I to have found only high vehicles EG. small trucks, large trucks and busses are able to see in and then only if they are looking at precisely the right moment. My biggest concern is busses which may have kids on board so I cover up if passing a bus in the same direction.
Driving nude is most liberating!
