Downderry Beach Near Plymouth Devon

Unofficial Nudist beach near Plymouth. Lovely location plenty of discreet areas to nestle down in. Mostly used by local naturists who know it. Few textiles but again, mostly locals. This has been a naturist beach for nearly 100 years. Beach is not easily accessible at high tide, risk of being cut off from main village. Coastal path access via steep climb

Getting to the east end nudist zone.

Times change and it varies according to the calendar, tides, weather and busyness but can anyone explain straightforwardLy the advantages and disadvantages of trying to park in the village and all all the way along, or jamming your car up against a hedge, slipping around or through the fields before an unpredictable scramble down the little cliff onto the beach? Are the markers and the old rope still there and secured?

The footpath down from the coast path, through the woods and passing the old cottage, then zigzag down to the ropes and finally to the beach is still my choice. That way I never have to consider tide times. It is a bt of a scramble, and decent footwear is highly recommended to avoid slipping, but if you can do that I reckon it is a more dependable guarantee of getting on and off the longer, (better in my view) part of the beach. Others find they cannot face the thought of going back uphill at the end of the day, whereas I enjoy walking up nude through the woods :)
