Return to DiscussionsWent to Dauphin Island, AL yesterday and hardly anyone there because school in session, midweek, during day and now fall. Spent the day walking 1-2 miles along beach, swimming, sunbathing the whole day. Couple people went by, no comments or anything. Saw helicopter and some boats so I'm sure they saw me. At the end of the day, I took pictures of the sunset and got back to the parking lot just after dark. My Harley was the only vehicle there under the lights. Used bottled water and soap from my bag to shower in the parking lot. Had to be visible to the 10 story hotel a block away. Didn't want to end the day, so decided to take the dare and rode naked on my bike down the main drag and out of town, across the causeway and stopped ten miles later at a local gas station to change for the ride home. Wow, really pumped trying to time street lights so I didn't cross in front of anyone's headlights or have to stop with people standing outside the corner gas station! On the freeway I got as far as Gulfport, MS and thought why not finish the ride? Pulled over, stripped and got back on and drove just into Louisiana. Would have finished, but the wind chill at 70mph with a wind screen is still pretty cool. There was very little warm air deflected from the engine between my legs to keep that area warm! Passing trucks and cars coming up from behind must have gotten an eyeful, but no horns. Can cross that one off the list!
Tony, Your story reads like a fantasy. Wow. Dauphin Island is a really beautiful spot, I was there many years ago and was amazed at the white sand. People were a lot more cautious then, but I did get a little naked beach jog in. I am still trying to process the image of a guy on a Harley tooling down the highway bareass. Must have been quite an experience.
Don't know WTF came over me! Someone made that dare in the group and it got stuck in my mind. Sounds crazy now, not so much then. Maybe it's not just me, but I don't always think things through. I get caught up in the moment and do something that could have turned out badly. Would I say it was worth it if it did go south, I don't know. Now I have to think of a new one! lol
