naked bike ride home (well half naked anyway)
Return to DiscussionsOn Sunday I went to a poker game, the venue was about a couple of miles away from my home and without the need of travelling on many main roads to get there or back, so my intension was to see if I could ride home naked, obviously (always health and safety conscious), with the exception of wearing the hi-vis jacket, this would only have been possible if I did well in the game, meaning that it would have been very late evening when I left the venue.
As usual I finished badly and it was only 5pm when I left, almost broad daylight still so no chance of me completing my quest that night...
however I will point out that, I do organise and run my own poker game at the local Conservative Club and as I do organise and run it, it is guaranteed that it will be a late night regardless of my finishing position, so as it was nearly midnight when I left the club my quest was still very much alive.
Now unfortunately there are just far too many brightly lit main roads from the club, to safely strip off at the club and start my naked journey from there, but once I got to about 2 miles from home and just before the hospital grounds that I have to ride through, I decided that it was the perfect time to stop, strip off my trousers and carry on riding home bottomless (not quite what my intention originally was -I am always tutting disapprovingly at the people who just strip off their trousers- my feeling is that this practise has a great deal more to do with exhibitionism than naturism, and although I am not against a little exhibitionism that seems all the more blatant... anyway rant over).
Job done and it was brilliant, just knowing the few cars and even fewer walkers that passed me were unknowingly seeing a naked man (well, half naked) on a bike (although if they did notice, I didn't get any pips or comments).
Another naked bucket list crossed off.

People have commented to me that at first, they thought I was riding my bike nude when I was wearing shorts and no shirt, so what you're (not) wearing below your waist may not be that obvious.

We are very lucky in the UK that public nudity is legal. However, it is far from accepted.
When I drive bottomless nobody knows, so nobody thinks anything untoward. When I drive topless most people probably still do not think that I'm naked, just that I'm driving topless. This is enough to get disapproving looks. If they knew I was naked they'd probably have a heart attack, or lynch me.
Last night I managed my first naked drive for almost a week. It feels so much better than keeping my shirt on.

I do live in Yorkshire and drive naked regularly through North Yorkshire, West Yorkshire and down the A1(M) to Essex. The congestion on the Doncaster bypass means that I'm often alongside other drivers in slow moving traffic. And I drive naked through town centers. Mostly those around me appear not to notice. I have had a very few double-takes but no disapproving looks.
