Return to DiscussionsJust south of the Springs (take hwy 115 to hwy 50, then 1 mile west on 50) is Dakota Hot Springs (Close to Penrose, CO). In the same area is Desert Reef, but you will not be admitted as a single male.
If you have a full day, or better yet several days, there is Valley View Hot Springs. Continue West on 50 past Dakota over the big hill (mountain) to Hwy 285 (Just past Salida, at Poncha Springs). Go south on 285 approximately 26 miles to Hwy GG. Go East on GG to Valley View. It is an absolutely amazing place. (olt.org for info). You will need to call ahead to verify space is available for your stay. They have a daily quota (not based on gender, just in general) to keep the place from getting over run. The one exception, if you make a donation to the Orient Land Trust, the weekend of 4/5 August is appreciation weekend, and they suspend the quota. It will be crowded and loud with bands playing in the pavilion both nights from ~9PM - 1AMish. It will probably go later, and there will be other pickup groups playing throughout the day in at least the Oak House, and probably other places. If you play something portable, bring it. There is a piano in the Oak House.
Beyond these, there are literally hundreds of remote places and hot springs (many C/O) throughout Colorado. Head up into the mountains and explore.
I see you will only be in the area until the 22nd, but I will be at Valley View 4 - 13 Aug.
