Club Orient rebuild status
Return to DiscussionsClub Orient was the first place we got nude with others. We booked a long weekend there with no prior nudist experience. We arrived mid-day and nobody was around. I (Mr J&C) was unpacking and getting up the nerve to get naked when I looked out the sliding glass doors to the little patio of our mini suite and Mrs J&C was already naked! We grabbed our towels and headed down the path towards Papagayos without seeing anyone. I was doing my best Inspector Clouseau imitation from his visit to a nudist colony. I had my towel draped way in front of me, with only a tiny pigtail over my shoulder. We finally got to the beach and figured out why we hadn't seen anyone... it was happy hour at The Perch and there was a long line of naked people down to the water. We walked over and joined the line and started talking to the nudists and once we realized everyone was normal and having fun, we didn't look back and have been nudists for the last 10 years since that trip.
We visited Club O on the one-year anniversary of Hurricane Irma while on a textile cruise. Not much left (our media section has a picture of Mini Suite 156 from our first trip as well as its remains from that last visit. There were only 2.5 walls left on the building, but it was still doing better than the other mini suites which were just empty concrete slabs.
On the Bare Necessities nude cruises they usually have a sea day talk by some of the Copro (French owners group similar to a condo association) owners giving updates. The last talk we remember was from 2019 and there wasn't much visible progress yet, but we got some of the inside info on how the insurance settlements were coming as well as the new building regulations they would have to deal with.
