kayak & canoe prices skyrocketing
Return to Discussionsanyone notice the price of kayaks and canoes and new boats in general have skyrocketed , i'm so glad i got great deals on all my boats some i don't use often my canoe is my favorite but even if the others sit they cost me near nothing to own . the other day a cheap pelican kayak i think they're starter model went from $200. to $250. throw in a paddle , life jacket and your over $300 . i want a new sportspal canoe actually been wanting one for years but about $1500. + shipping so guess i'll keep my pelican canoe . i was watching a youtube fishing video a guy had a hobie kayak you pedal those are so cool but $4500 . is crazy but maybe i'm cheap lol.
Noticed the price increase extends to inflatables as well. I was looking to be a second single person kayak but lost price was three times what I paid for my double. Still seems like end of the season is best time to buy price wise tho
i agree end of season is always a good time to buy a boat but this past year seems small boats - canoes, kayaks , jon boats and even pond boat were all bought up in my are now february new stock new prices. i still like the idea of a inflatable easy to stow and take with you but nothing beats a hard shell boat .
i was at wallyworld other day and saw my lifetime tamarack has a new seat which is a major upgrade but double the price i paid for mine, my is a nice sit on for the price i paid now i'm wondering if i can just upgrade the seat and mounting bracket. i did add a seat that i use in my canoe but would be cool to add the upgrade.
kayaks , canoes and the board boats have made it possible for most anyone to get out on the lake or river when i got my first boat almost 50 years ago i wish they would have today's kayaks around they are so much easier to haul than even a jon boat . and every year something new and to me the paddle kayaks are so cool even thought expensive they are super cool.
It is easy for me to get stars in my eyes when looking over the new offerings whether in catalogs, online, or in person. I started looking at a cool 12 footer that would be perfect for the flats along the gulf coast in Texas but in a rare moment of sanity decided my time would be better spent doing more kayaking closer to home.
