how do you store it
Return to Discussionsi store my kayak - a tamarack angler in the garage it's only 10 feet but my poor pelican canoe is just shy 16 foot is outside flipped upside down, i do plan to get a carport and will make a rack to store both underneath out of the brunt of weather.
Mine's in the backyard as I hope for an opportunity to take it for a paddle one morning. Usually it's stored in my garage standing on its end with the nose wedged between the open rafters. It's a blow-mould sit-on-top model and that seems okay. They're certainly not the easiest thing to store!
I have a plastic kayak which I have owned for decades now. I just had to downsize and let go of my home which had a big garden, a garage etc. I used to keep the kayak upside down on the flat roof of the garage. I built a large shed/workshop at my daughter's place and I plan to fit some wooden struts and hang the boat upside down there.
I store mine in my pole barn. i put 2 pulleys on the bottom of the rafters and use 2 carabiners on both ends of the kayak, rope through the system and raise it to the rafters and out of the way. usually i cover the seat area with a plastic trash bag and some lite cordage tied to it to hold in over the seat area.
