I'm sitting naked in a hotel room in Chicago, traveling on business and saving the world. I have my second glass of Lagunitas' Little Sumpin' Sumpin' Ale, and just love it. It pours golden with a yellowish head, and a *huge* aroma of hops and citrus. Heck, I hardly want to drink the thing, it smells that good. But the flavor is just as big, sweet, but not too much, perfectly balanced with a hoppy bitter finish that hangs on and teases and entices another sip. The lacing on the glass is beautiful and clings there forever.
The tart on the label is as attractive as the beer is, and the only thing that could make it better is if we were sharing this beer naked on the beach somewhere with a few friends. Give this one a try. It's sumpin' special.

Lagunitas IPA is great, Little Sumpin' is a great choice too.
Another very nice IPA is the Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA. This beer has the perfect combination of sweet maltiness with a strong but not overpowering hop bitterness and finish. It's one of my very favorites, and one I go back to again and again.
While it goes very nicely with a meal, it's even better drunk naked and shared with friends.
I am a fan of Stone IPA as well as many local micro brews. Deviant Dales from Oskar Blues (Lyons, Colorado) is another. IPA is probably my beer of choice although not a hard and fast rule.
In fact, I think I am getting thirsty right now.
I had a chance this week to try Stone's Enjoy By IPA and was blown away. The idea is that IPAs are hoppy beers, and the hops are best when they're fresh. So Stone prints the Enjoy By date right on the bottle, about 4 or 5 weeks out, because this is a beer that should be enjoyed fresh. It was full of citrus and pine aromas and hoppy, but had a nice balance to it and not too bitter. Good malty sweetness, too. A real pleasure to drink. I sampled it, drank a pint there on the spot, and took home a quart (32 oz limit). I'll drink the rest this week. It is lovely.
That's a tough question. There are so many great IPAs out there it's hard to name a favorite. Southern Tier just brought out a seasonal called "Old Man Winter" that is more of an old style ale but isvery good. I've tried many of the above mentioned with Deviant Dales probably at the top of the list. It comes in 16 oz. cans too, so it's good for outings.Troegs Brewery from Hershey Pa brews what they call "Nugget Nectar" that is a real winner. I presently have a clone of that one in the primary fermenter. Original gravity was 1.097 and depending on where it finishes, should be ~9 - 10% ABV, with an initial malt taste and finishing with a hop bite.
A few days ago on a business trip to Kansas, I enjoyed a can of Tallgrass Ethos IPA, a big 16 ounces of a lovely aromatic IPA with 110 IBUs. I always love to sample the local brews when I travel, and this is a Kansas beer. It had a very nice malty sweetness to go with the hops, but never overpowered them. An excellent beer, and I followed that at dinner with another of the same.
On New Year's Eve, I sampled Firestone Walker's Double Jack and liked it so much, I filled a growler and took it to the party. It's a very nice double IPA with lots of hops, huge aroma and flavor, enough malty sweetness to be interesting, and a crisp finish. It was a great party and a great beer.
