Open/Closed Door Policy?
Return to DiscussionsBefore I get started, I'd like to be clear on some things. I do not pose this question for the sake of wanting to gain the audience of just anyone, unwanted nor anyone whom the parents/heads of household don't want to have witness private/intimate moments.
The question I pose is due to the fact that a few months ago, I got to spend a few days at my friend's home. They are not only nudists, but their old home has no doors. Upon pointing out this discovery of mine, he told me that the previous owner had enlarged all previous doorways and removed them to give the house an Open and Airy feel. When I asked about how he and his wife got around to handling their more intimate moments, he said, "This house has taught us to break down that last barrier. Becoming nudists before the kids came along was a cinch, but this was tougher. Now, we've all learned to live with no barriers."
As you can imagine, my mind was all over the place. So my question to you folks is, Open Door, Yes or No and Why? Why for either answer. I think we all stand to learn about our takes on this matter.
Thanks, JC
Nah ... not into it, don't get it and we think there are things, regardless of how "opened minded" you are, that should be kept behind closed doors. Explaining sexuality, sex, certain things that kids might have questions about, is one thing ... doing it in front of them is just not something we're comfortable with nor do we agree with it.Using the toilet ... don't get the reason behind an open door policy. It's not nudist philosophy and we don't get that either. Just us ...
;-)
Long before I became a nudist my wife and I had an open door policy with regard to the children. We were happily naked around them when getting ready for bed or getting up in the morning (we slept naked). It was all totally natural. They would think there was something wrong if they were shut out and unable to chat to us whenever they needed to. Yes we were careful when it came to sexual activity. The children have all grown into well-rounded adults.
Now I leave the doors open if I'm in nudist company, only shutting the bathroom door when on the toilet. It can be very practical to share the bathroom for otheruses - it saves queuing. If I'm in textile company I respect their wish not to see me naked and close the door.

Sorry, but that's just a little creepy. Growing up we were not nudists, but still did not hide our bodies and in showering and changing clothes in the course of the day my parents, a brother, a sister and I saw each other naked in every way. However, my parents did draw the line at intimate moments and bodily functions. They felt, as my hubby and I did later on, that there are certain actions that do not need to be broadcast to the world. Sex is a very personal, intimate act between a couple and it doesn't need to have an audience. I also really don't care to have a viewing audience when I'm sitting down during basic toilet functions.
It sounds like your friends without doors are more of exhibitionists, voyeurs and fetishists. I guess its their business what they do in private, but don't force that type of thing on me if I visit.
Mar and I have pretty much an open door policy at home. Then again, it is almost always just the two of us.
I (we) couldn't imagine being like that with anyone else in the house. As people have said, intimate times are intimate times
Although I think it would be fine, there are those moments and times when privacy is a must!! Being married to a textile wife I can assure, that even if she did try nudity and became comfortable with it, the policy would be closed bedroom and bathroom doors!! Some things are better left behind closed doors!! That's just her feelings and mine!!
I am an open door person but close doors if there are others who might get offended in the vicinity.
I guess it comes from my country origins where life faces less stringent rules and of course a lot less number of people around to get offended.
Our nude swim group made an announcement one meeting asking members to close the toilet doors as some members had been offended by someone leaving the loo door open.
(No it wasn't me that had the door open).
Growing up we had 4 people in the house and one bathroom , it always seemed that everyone had to use the bathroom when I was taking a bath , everyone just did #1 , I was able to do the same if my mom or sister were in taking a bath till I was about 11 then I had to wait but they never had to if I was in
