Return to DiscussionsI visited Dillion's Russian Bath House after weeks of contemplation, because I was not sure what to expect. This facility has a women's day on Mondays and men's day the rest of the week. After researching, I found that it is a mostly nude facility, and I experienced that everyone there was nude or only wrapped in a towel. There is a huge very hot sauna room which was awesome, shower room, large steam room, comfortable lounge sitting area, and massage area. I found the atmosphere very friendly and very comfortable to be nude all throughout the facility. I actually fell asleep for a short nude nap in the lounge area after spending some time in the sauna. I was so relaxed and felt so good that I spread my towel out on one of the loungers with about ten or so others in the room and fell asleep for about half hour which I was told is normal. There were many regulars there and about twenty or so people there during mid day. I later received an awesome deep tissue massage which made me feel even more relaxed. It was nice to be comfortable nude among others in a naturally nude environment. I spent almost four hours there and would have stayed all day if I could. I hated to put on clothes to drive back home. I would recommend this experience to anyone and would definately recommend Dillions in Chelsea, MA to anyone around the Boston area.

That's how it is at Dillon's. It was a men's Russian steam sauna
and they added a women's-only day a few years ago. It is not a
nudist or naturist spa. It is a very traditional Russian "banya".
It's a place that men can go and feel free to be naked with each
other while hanging and sweating or getting a massage with each other. I have brought up the subject of co-ed nudity with a few
guys there and most have responded saying they would be uncomfortable.
I just assume this is because most of the customers
associate co-ed nudity with situations leading to sexual behavior.
Since it is visited predominantly by straight men I think they are
very comfortable being nude with other men but not with women. Plus it always has this strong male atmosphere so men talk openly about things they would not be so comfortable talking about with women.
Interestingly, I have talked to gay and bisexual men who don't like
these places so much because they are sometimes uncomfortable
hanging naked with straight men. Even though there is no real
sexual atmosphere in the place, since most customere are
non-nudists, non-naturists, the nudity would still take on a sexual
tone for some of the guys, and I presume the women too, not sure. I
don't really care because I go to hang naked and enjoy the freedom
and openness even if some of the other guys practice their nudity
without thinking of it as a philosophy. They are there for the
physical health and camaraderie and bonding through the experience.
They just happen to be comfortable doing it nude. You often have
guys there who were brought there by their dads or grandparents and
who now are bringing sons. And lots of guys bring friends and
introduce them to the place. Maybe it's a first step toward
acceptance of nudity in the culture.

I love visiting them. Ancient Greece and Rome had it right. Russia, Turkey, Japan and many countries in Eastern Europe like Hungary all promote the public bath house at the center of their society. I'd like to open and run one.
I've been to Imperial Spa in Las Vegas that place was awesome sounds just like Dillans everyone is talking about.. Co-ed areas they give you shorts and a shirt. Male side nudity required it's like 20 bucks for the entire day.
I'd love to find a place like that here in West Palm Beach but no such luck yet

Dillon's is very simple, small and basic. Nothing fancy about it. It offers almost no privacy and can not accommodate large groups, but that's part of the charm of the place. I would expect a place in Las Vegas would be bigger and more elaborate?
Thae nude atmospere at Dillions is very comfortable. I found it very comfortable to be fullly nude with others and no hint of sexual tension. I particularly enjoyed taking a short nap naked in the lounge area after roasting in the Sauna and being gently awakened when it was time for my massage. I enjoyed the experience there and look forward to returning.

It's funny you mention sleeping on the lounge chairs. There is a
guy who visits there several times a week and always sleeps on one
of the two chaise lounges. Like clockwork he's there, usually
partially covering himself with a cotton sheet. This Sunday a young
guy who had never visited before was at Dillon's for about four
hours and about two hours into his visit I saw him taking a nap
totally nude and uncovered on one of the lounges. When that regular
guy takes over the lounge chair I always see him as taking it over
as his territory. When this first timer was taking his nap he
made me smile just seeing how comfortable he was with his nudity!
Either way it's nice guys feel comfortable enough to sleep with all
the activity and commotion. It was busy and crowded on Sunday. When
it's not too busy you can stretch out nude in the sauna or steam
room as long as you don't stay in there too long.
In Germany a couple of years ago; visited the sauna/steam rooms at my hotel in Frankfurt. I go to the locker room, put on the robe from my room, proceed to the sauna. There's a sign next to the door, in English & German..."Ladies night Monday 5-6pm, Gents night Tuesday 5-6pm"I'm trying to figure this out, as it was a Thursday.....I turn to hang up my robe and there's a black bikini on the hooks. I hang the robe, grab a towel, and walk into the sauna nude. To my surprise it's very big, 15x15ft and there are a dozen people in there, men, women, couples...all nude, sitting on towels.
Germany does it right.
